I was wrong about Harry Reid.
Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa. I still don't agree with his stance on choice, but I give him kudos for leadership and toughness. For the first time since Big Dawg, I feel proud of a leading Democrat. Pelosi's no slouch either.

KEEP IT UP HARRY!!!! KEEP FIGHTING THE FIGHT, AND FOR THE FIGHTS WE LOSE, KEEP SHINING THE BRIGHT LIGHT ON THE RADICAL REPUBLICAN THUGS THAT ARE TEARING THIS COUNTRY APART.

1. I agree.
I had real doubts about him at first, but he has greatly exceeded my expectations and I'm really glad that this party is starting to get some real leadership.

I don't like some things that he's done voting wise (the bankruptcy bill comes to mind) and I do understand his stance on abortion, but as long as he will defend Roe V Wade I'm fine. I think he is a good guy over all and I like how he attacks back and doesn't let the republicans get away with their smears. When they had the booklet out on him on how to attack him he came right back. I don't know if they ever used it though.
He's a good guy over all and he and, like you said, he and Mrs. Pelosi are doing pretty good together. They make a good team.

3. I like the way he points out the mistakes made by
the Repubs--* lied about staying out of the filibuster fight, repubs are following a radical agenda, DeLay should go. It's so refreshing to have a Senate leader that isn't walking on eggs--who actually calls them out. Pelosi is a tiger---roar on!

7. Indeed.
His Cheney/Bush smackdown was great.

The guy's a pugilist, and he's excellent in the leadership role.

re bankruptcy bill... he's my state senator and my Mom actually taught him in high school....but I was totally po'd over his vote.

Hopefully he's making amends with calling Bush a liar today re filibuster.

11. his Dad killed himself
am certain everyone has heard the story...but my Mom lived it. He rode on bus for hours to get to school from tiny mining town. No one knew who the hell he was...just lost his Dad..but ran for student body president and won.

My Mom will never forget him.

12. How sad
:( I've heard a bit about him. Like him dealing with the mafia in NV and how he literally fought for his wife. :loveya: And having death threats and bomb death threats. He's survived thus far so I trust him with dealing with the neocons.

5.  I need more info on Reid
I need to know that he will push for stem cell, support gay rights, and uphold roe before I can give him a thumbs up or a thumbs down. I do like the leadership skills that he has displayed so far, and the fact that he isn't afraid to mix it up when he get's attacked. I also like the fact that he used to be a boxer of course that is just the boxing fan in me talking .

6. I've posted it before, I will again:
I was wrong, too. Sorry, Senator Reid. Can't overlook or forgive your opinions about choice issues, but you're a fighter. Keep that up, yo. We may yet make it out of this disaster a whole country.

9. I'd have had Dick Durbin first
but Reid had me when he scalded Bush for those pamphlets they sent out abusing the good senator. No attack left unanswered!

13. The 'thugs might have done us a favor by getting rid of Daschle.
Man, that guy had as much fire in his belly as a lump of moss.

14. Interesting point.
I mean, I liked Daschle, but you're right, he needed to seriously butch up. Reid doesn't have that problem.

15. Harry Reid will bring a lot of Pro Life people to the Democratic Party
Those who are Pro Life but are Democratic on every other issue. We desperately need them to win back the Presidency. My brother in law who is a staunch Republican was telling me that Democrats have a litmus test for being Pro Choice and was going off about it. I simply pointed out that Harry Reid was a Pro Life guy and shut him up quick.
