Please explain something ...
Hyde said that impeaching Clinton was revenge for impeaching Nixon. I was either too young or must've been under a rock or something. I thought Nixon was GOING to be impeached for wrongdoing and resigned before any impeachment proceedings started. Please set me straight about this.

1. I was in grade school...
My understanding is that the Nixon Camp found out "they" (house) had enough votes to impeach, so Nixon resigned before they would/could.

3. That's what I remember, too
he wasn't really impeached. They were only saying he could be.

5. Sure
I was 10 years old at the time, and I remember my cartoons being pre-empted by the hearings.

7. Approved by the Judciary Committee, NOT the full House.

Unless the full House votes its approval of the Articles of Impeachment, one cannot truthfully say someone was "impeached." It's precisely this distinction that motivated Nixon to resign.

8. I was not saying Nixon was impeached
just that the articles had been approved, and I gave a link to further information.

9. I know. I watched "The President's Men" (again) last night, so ...

... I'm being a stickler (nit-picker) about the details. I remember my own long-lived confusion regarding the issues those days, but I was still assimilating my "Vietnam experience" and my new marriage. I didn't pay as much attention as I should have. So, now I overcompensate. :silly:

6. And they say we're an angry party? They need to get over it
and try to pass some decent legislation rather than prosecuting someone for a stained dress
