Luntz: Manipulation is "Education and Explanation"

I guess Luntz just gave up the goods on the Bush Administration's confusing message that they've been successful with their strategy regarding Social Security. Not too long ago we heard the need to "educate and explain". We've heard Bush say, "We need to 'educate' the people."

When I heard Luntz say he would coin manipulation as "education and explanation", my jaw dropped...literally. It would be phenominal to see Keith Olberman do a piece showing Luntz saying this, then show the clips of Cons et al speaking the words "educate" and "explain" on social security over and over and over and over again. Show real evidence of the overt manipulation to con the public.

Honestly, it was a stunning moment. There are no other words to describe it. This is nothing to be joked about either. They are deadly serious about the manipulation and brainwashing. They have made a significant investment and expect it to pay off in ways we haven't seen since, well...you know who.

Buzzwords and language manipulation started with Vigurie and Atwater...Luntz just has refined it and has the guts to not only show it but stick it in our faces.

This was a fascinating piece that I'm certain flew way over the heads of many who watched simply as it's so basic and simple in nature. This is true manipulation and in a highly organized and systematic manner.

The Repugnicans have long played to the emotions rather than reason and the quickest way is through simple, stark verbage that congers images that are then built up and further manipulated. When you buy into this world, these messages assure, when you can see them from the outside, they scare the shit out of ya.

4. Might make a great MoveOn ad..The whole fake Town Hall gig was ripe

with zingers to throw at the GOP right out of the mouth of their main pollster. I was intrigued by his listing the people in the shot. An Asian, a Black, a Latino, a Woman, etc. Then he said "Look a Red Dress that is very important". I guess I am not as knowledgeable as Luntz as to how to brainwash the people but what is the significance of the red dress? Anyone know?

6. IIRC, it's Strength.

Sure, the Daily Show is comedy/fake news. But what Luntz was saying during this interview he was dead-on serious about. I simply can't get all excited about what a genious he is and laugh about it because it is not harmless. It is a carefully researched and corporate financed marketing plan in action to dupe American citizens.

but since this Bolten stuff has been going on, I've been trying to make sense of the nomination. Like I said...it's one of those gut feelings. They haven't been 100% correct, but mostly so. And when I've dismissed them as out of the realm/just not possible/<twighlight zone music playing>, it comes back and bites me. *runs*
