News Media coverage of bankruptcy bill show images of credit card swipes
I've noticed that when the corporate media news networks do stories on the Bankruptcy Bill, they always show images of credit cards and the swiping of credit cards. This plants the suggestion that people who are declaring bankruptcy have 'brought it on themselves' by careless credit card spending.
But if I am not mistaken, the Bankruptcy Bill contains specific provisions restricting the ability of people to declare bankruptcy on medical bills if they are above the median income for their state.
So this is really about the Health Insurance Crisis and the utter permanent ruination it can cause families who are doing better than average...yet the corporate news media is trying to portray it as irresponsible spending rather than medical misfortune combined with lack of health insurance. This slanted suggested coverage is just another example of blaming ordinary people instead of the companies that don't offer health insurance or the nation (one of the few industrialized nations) who does not provide health care for it's citizens.
