8. I don't know how they got started...

... but they got into debunking urban legends, email hoaxes, things like that. They get requests and they do some research and prove or disprove.

I don't use truthorfiction all that much, just because their on-site search engine is a little twitchy, but if you suspect the facts in something, you can also just put in the keywords or phrase plus "snopes" or "truthorfiction" in a Google search, and that will usually pull up any references on their sites to an investigation they've done.
