I am photographing this Catholic Chaplin's conference. Talk about liberal
people! I sit down to take a break and eat at the table from Georgia and these people don't know a thing about me and my politics. So then this guy makes this remark ripping on Tom Delay and Bill Frist and then the rest of the table starts laughing. Then they start talking about Terri Schiavo and how they had to take 17 hours of video to get two seconds of her looking at the balloons. Then they all start ripping on George Bush and Jeb! I joined right in and didn't miss a beat! It was awesome!!! So then I go to the Kiva room (this is all taking place in Albuquerque from Saturday until Wednesday) anyway, I sit in the front row with my camera and this Chaplin from Sacramento sits next to me and we start talking. We get on the subject of Arnold and he starts criticizing Arnold for trying to cut benefits for the disabled then he starts talking about how he hoped they would get a progressive Pope but he was afraid it would be this conservative guy from Austria. So he and I start talking politics and hitting it off big time. Then the guy next to us joins right in agreeing with everything we are saying. It was like I was in paradise!

Now let me just say that Chaplin's are like Saints! Many work in Hospices and take care of all kinds of people who cant take care of themselves. These people are truly Jesus like! I figured a few might be liberal but I felt like I was at the Democratic convention! What a great day to meet wonderful progressive people!

1. That is wonderful to hear!
I am so tired of these RW Priests in NC I could barf. We used to have 2 very liberal priests where I belong to church a few years back but they were shipped out. I read Fr.Andrew Greeley's homilies online instead of listening to the Fr. Bushbots**.

:(

3. Glad you mentioned Greeley
I didn't know he was online; I've been a fan of his novels for years. Thanks!

2. Christ was a liberal
simple as that. For some reason, people forget that.
Oh, I remember the reason! Manipulating people's fundamental beliefs for political gain. Right.

5. Most chaplains are open-minded liberals.
By the very nature of their work, they often work with people from a variety of faith backgrounds. Fundamentalists and conservatives just don't have the knack of being able to do this kind of work.

I keep trying to tell people, there are a lot more liberal clergy around than you realize. I'm just one of them - but we're out there, just like the rest of us liberals! :)

8. Yes, they had a video on hospice work and it stated right out
about respecting the beliefs of others. It was all very refreshing! I am glad I got this job because it's taught me a lot about how wonderful Chaplin's are. I have a whole new respect and understanding of them.

7. That's pretty cool...
... anybody who has confidence in their being simply must be somewhat Liberal, eh?

One a side note: Disturbing, but not surprising:

Ol' Sen. Sanatorium, (on abc "lick the press" or whatever they call that sunday bushlicking "news" program), says: "The Catholic Priests who got into trouble were in Liberal Congregations. The conservative congregations had no problems." :puke:

That guy is a danger to our democracy, a danger to the truth, and an idiot who belongs in a sanitarium.
