I'm sure that Tim will help to rehabilitate the administration. As undoubtedly, Wolf Blitzer will do with Rice later today.

4. But Stephanopolis' questions are as soft as pillows.
Rummy says people were told to bury things in back yards.

MY question would have been: They buried anthrax in their back yards? Isn't that dangerous? They buried nerve gas? Doesn't that require special protective stuff?

Steph never gets specific.

Rummy says we never said they had nukes just a nuke program. How does a nuke program bomb you in 45 minutes? Oh, wait, that was Blair using the British intelligence Rummy likes so much.

Loved that he can't bring himself to say "guerilla (sp) war."

How many times can that asshole say "I don't know"??

25. About when he found out about the statement.
He told the committee he found out 'in recent days' or 'a few days ago'.

He told George Steph, according to PeteNYC, that he found out four MONTHS ago.

Lying to Congress is not good, Rummy. Lying to Congress is not good.

32. He's all over the place
He told the committee "a few days ago", then when Russert specifically asked him about the quote, he said, "I should have said several weeks", then on Stephanopolis, he says, "months"?

How can he possibly get away with this?

Also, when Russert asked him about someone else's blatant flip flop on timing (I think it was Cheney) he said, "I'm sure he meant to say..." and totally changed the content of the quote.

Can they just jump around all over the place on these crucial issues of timing of who knew what, when?

This is nuts. We've got to get these guys under oath.

22. I'm glad to see Clark speaking out about this
Most of you know I'm an avid Dean supporter but my dear Dr. Dean is considered an "outsider" and can easily be dismissed by the Beltway Boys. But Clark? He is going to be impossible to dismiss in the same manner. As a career military man, they can hardly attack his patriotism. As the former head of NATO, they can't criticize his lack of foreign policy experience. The media whores are going to have a hard time with him as their usual tactics aren't going to work.

I am heartened that almost all of the Democratic candidates are speaking out about this. The more the better.

39. Having watched him quite a few times...
I thought he looked a little p*ssed off...this is a man that has serious problems with this cowboy administration and its foreign and domestic policy. He has no problems expressing that clearly and forcefully and with details. He had to sit and listen to Rumsfield lie, lie and lie to George for 90% of the show's time and then George puts him on for a lousy 10%? Looking p*ssed off doesn't bother me at all...after watching Rumsfield and Rice lie all morning long.

27. CIA got uranium cut in October-buzzflash
Among the most vocal proponents of publicizing the alleged Niger connection, two senior officials said, were Cheney and officials in the office of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. The effort was led by Robert G. Joseph, the top National Security Council staff official on nuclear proliferation, the officials said."
It was Robert G. Joseph, working for Cheney and Rumsfeld, who inserted the magic 16 words.-xymphora

30. Nevermind theUraniumWHERES THE $2.3 TRILLION?"Wecant track $2.3 T" Rummy
Edited on Sun Jul-13-03 09:15 AM by tonyblurr
REMEMBER THIS? SWEPT UNDER THE DOD CARPET in the 911 Hysteria?

Military waste under fire
$$2.3 trillion missing -- Bush plan targets Pentagon accounting ..Yeah RIGHT!

WHAT HAPPENED TO $2.3 TRILLION? Thats a LOT of MULLA!
Some people in the DOD have become FILTHY RICH over the years huh?

LETS GET THEM ALL and end the corruption and the corrumsfelds.

"According to some estimates we cannot track $2.3 trillion in transactions," Rumsfeld admitted.

$2.3 trillion that's $8,000 for every man, woman and child in America. To understand how the Pentagon can lose track of trillions, consider the case of one military accountant who tried to find out what happened to a mere $300 million.

"We know it's gone. But we don't know what they spent it on," said Jim Minnery, Defense Finance and Accounting Service.

Minnery, a former Marine turned whistle-blower, is risking his job by speaking out for the first time about the millions he noticed were missing from one defense agency's balance sheets. Minnery tried to follow the money trail, even crisscrossing the country looking for records.

"The director looked at me and said 'Why do you care about this stuff?' It took me aback, you know? My supervisor asking me why I care about doing a good job," said Minnery.

He was reassigned and says officials then covered up the problem by just writing it off.

35. Kick the Thugs Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz Out!
Give Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz the Boot!

SECRETARY OF Defense Donald Rumsfeld stands at the head of the table. He has outmaneuvered all his Cabinet rivals and taken over many of the functions that used to belong to the State Department, the CIA, even the Justice Department. He dominates the Cabinet as no secretary of defense has done since Robert McNamara. He is also articulate, refreshingly if undiplomatically blunt, with a no-nonsense approach that is at times both witty and exactly to the point.

His deputy, Paul Wolfowitz, is often mentioned as the most brilliant person in government. He is perhaps the most influential deputy in modern times, at the top of his game. He has seen his vision of toppling Saddam Hussein fulfilled, and he is an intellectual force behind a whole new way of looking at US foreign policy.

But for all of that, both should be fired. Here's why.

36. Boot Cheney too
He and Rumsfeld go back as partners in crime all the way to the Ford Administration. Cheney must go too. It was he and his operatives doing all the arm-twisting at the CIA and State to get all this bogus intel included as a justification for the naked aggression on Iraq.
