I walked out on my dentist yesterday.
I'd only been to him once before and didn't have time to notice the reception room then. Seemed like a nice enough fella (the hygienist did all of the work, of course). But yesterday I was kept waiting for a while so after looking at our lame newspaper I sat and looked at the wall. I noticed the bible on the table first, then a few more religious posters on the wall. Not such a big deal, though I don't like religious proselytizing in any form.

Then I realized something very big was on the wall to my right: A huge, gilded-framed poster commemorating scrotum's second inauguration. This guy must be a "pioneer." I up and walked out.

1. Good for you.
I think that the poster would have been it for me too.

8. Eggs Ackley!
I am rabidly opposed to supporting Mepublican businesses, especially ones which wear political opinion on the sleeve (wall in this case).

Right after the war started I went to an allergist who had a "Boycott French products" flier on the receptionist's window. I told her, politely, that it is a big mistake for businesses to advertise personal opinions and walked out.

13. I switched pharmacies...
Edited on Thu Apr-07-05 03:51 PM by IanDB1
because they had "Passion of The Christ" displayed in their drive-thru window.

I told them that either that "anti-semitic bigoted peace of trash comes out of that window, or I take my business elsewhere."

I didn't ask that they stop selling the movie. Just that they not display it in their drive-thru window where I have to look at it.

The pharmacist says to me, "Well, that's your choice."

My family and I used to give them a whole lot of business. I have three prescriptions per month that I filled there myself on a regular basis. That was like... what... a year ago?

I would be surprised if even a SINGLE customer said, "Oh, can I buy a copy of that movie through the drive-thru window while I'm here?"

Anyway, good call. Just be sure to let your dentist know exactly WHY you walked-out on him.

6. Good going
In a similar move, it looks like we are moving our DU meetup from Chili's to a non-donating, local company. Chili's parent company, Brinks, gave 84% of its political contributions to Republicans during the 2004 election cycle. In particular, there were two donations, 2K to Kit Bond and 1K to Sam Brownback, that I can't stomach. I e-mailed them and just finished a hand written letter that will go in the mail this afternoon. I also have the number to call them. We have all got to get more particular about where our money ends up.

12. maybe he was physician of the year!
I consider myself a hardcore Democrat, but if I had my own business, I wouldn't be posting large pictures of Howard Dean on the wall. Besides, posters on walls are what teenage girls do to boy bands. For politicians, it's just down right creepy.

15. I've done it a few times and it made me feel good.
I was once waiting in a cold room with just a thin gown on. After waiting for 30 minutes or longer, I decided to leave. I found my clothes and left. The lady at the front desk ask me where I was going. I said 'you figure it out.' She then said the doctor should be here in about five minutes. I then said, Have the doctor call me! He never did. But they did try billing me for an office call.

20. Sounds like a scene from a horror movie.
The next scene would be of the dentist suddenly looming over you saying, "Is it safe?"
