When Will The Lies Stop?
Just the lastest lie that makes me sick. It was reported in the ever honest Boston Herald, front page no less, that the Pope said "Amen" and then passed away. Nice and touching, right?

NOW....I read this in today's Boston Globe

"The Holy Father could not utter a single word before passing away," Dr. Renato Buzzonetti was quoted as saying. "Just as happened in the last days he could not speak, he was forced to silence."

I find it simply distressing that today's media makes up the news. Even worse in my opinion, is the local newsreaders interjecting thoughts and comments after each story.

2. At least it wasn't reported that he
grabbed Giuliani's arm and said "Thank God George Bush is our President."

5. Welcome To Morality Plays, 2005
Somehow corporate media deduced that last year's "mandate" for this regime included one about "faith"...and trying to milk that angle to put some money in their pockets. Look at how much theological "discussion" goes on these days...nothing more than pontificating and moralizing on the public airwaves...wrapped under the "faith" label. I didn't know CNNServative had a "faith reporter" until recently.

Manufactured news is easy to control and doesn't cost much to fill hours and hours of their airtime. The Schaivo fiasco was a perfect example as it all played out with a small cast of players in a few locations and then beat into the ground to create some sense of urgency and controversy. Using the "faith" angle inflamed it more as the corporate media assumed, since they are now presenting "faith" values in their programming, to be the arbeiters and judges of what is moral and not and using that filter what is "news" and what isn't. Thus we end up with the Randall Terrys and now the steady stream of Opus Dei voices in the pope's coverage.

The mythification of John Paul began almost the day he was chosen Pope and it's been a cult of personality ever since. He's being made into a legend and step one is creating a larger than life aura is intended to distort a life to fit the legend. George Washington and the cherry tree for example. John Paul has always been portrayed as a "man of the people" and this comment fits that legend.

Having a bit of medical knowledge, I imagine speaking for John Paul would have been difficult at best once the "trake" tube was inserted and in his last days he also had a feeding tube inserted...and that doesn't take into consideration the deterioration of his overall speaking skills (as witnessed in his last years). That said, I'm sure if the man could have said "Amen" as his final words, he did...even if it wasn't verbal or audible.
