Snake Bites Volume One: The Best of the Plaid Adder 2003-2004 is a compilation of The Plaid Adder's Democratic Underground essays. The essays were originally published between October 29, 2003 and October 26, 2004, marking a year of political insanity and ending on the brink of the 2004 election.

The Plaid Adder has selected 25 essays for this compilation and written a special introduction. 50% of the proceeds will go to America's Second Harvest.

It was The Plaid Adder's suggestion that we donate a portion of the proceeds, and she chose America's Second Harvest. Of course we were more than happy to do that - but she's the one who deserves the credit for coming up with the idea. Incidentally, she chose to take no profit from this venture - half the proceeds are going to America's Second Harvest, the other half is going to help keep DU running. So she deserves your admiration way more than we do :)

EarlG has done all the editing and layout and designed the cover. Big props to EarlG! Also, America's Second Harvest is one of my partner's charities, and if my partner weren't so supportive of my various little insanities there would have been no column at all, so that's part of what that's about. The other part is that this way I can finally say my writing is having an impact in the real world, however small that might be.
