BRIC alliance established to counter US presence in Mid-East
On the way to work yesterday, I heard mention of this alliance on AAR. I was surprised that I hadn't heard anything about it in MSM. BRIC stands for Brazil, Russia, India and China; the countries who have 'allied' to counter our threat in the event of another US-led invasion. It's talked about briefly on the following website: http://mprofaca.cro.net/bric. When I googled 'BRIC alliance,' I was amazed by the number of hits. Am I behind in the news, or is the general public also unaware of this WWI-style scramble to take sides prior to a perceived future conflict?

Bric wants to challenge US hegemony. A balance of power is a good thing, but should we be considering additional invasions while the world allies against us? I have not yet learned whether or not these countries have signed a mutual non-aggression pact, but Iran appears to be moving over to their sphere. Given rumors re: our readying the military for a possible bombing of Western Iran this June, the implications of this 'scramble' are staggering.

1. A balance of power

would be a good thing, under normal circumstances. The British played that game for a number of years after the Napoleonic Era, aligning herself with different nations at different times, first against Russia, later against Germany. It worked for almost 100 years, until 1914. But with the maniacs who are running America now, I'm not sure any type of foreign "alliance" would be an effective deterrent. Nothing stands in the way of PNAC, in their mentality.

2. BRIC
But the BRIC alliance constitutes 40% of the world's population, and given Russia's military expertise and India's and China's new-found financial surpluses (thanks to us), I don't see how the bushies will be able to ignore them. So sad that the 'pax americana' is over so soon, and so sad to think that we might be the destabilizing force in the world.
