The Gates of Hell are Open
Here's a link from Politex this AM. I didn't realize that Smirk is in charge of the Iraqi media. I think he's using Iraq as a dry-run for a totalitarian state here. Scary shit, mein Volken.

1. Well, Naomi Klein's article in the September(?) issue of Harper's
claims that they're using Iraq as a model of robber baron economics unfettered by government regulations or popular sentiment.

4. It seems to go beyond that though
I think that the Darwinist economic policies are part of it, but the part about torture and kidnapping and midnight raids is more alarming, IMO. Hopefully if it starts to happen here, our citizenry will resist as passionately as the Iraqi people have been.

5. You have too much
faith in "our citizenry." Remember, an election was decided by the Supreme Court and Americans didnt even blink an eye.

2. this will be dissed as rant of madman-someone who is not thankful for

all we have done for Iraq and its people!!

........The only solution is the immediate withdrawal of occupation forces - or as a minimum, a strict internationally guaranteed timetable for withdrawal. Talk about freedom and democracy is seen as an endlessly repeated sham by our peoples because these words are being uttered by the very powers that have stood behind the corrupt dictatorial regimes. The US today is still the ally and backer of many such tyrannical regimes in our region and elsewhere.

We do not believe that the aggressive US stance towards Syria and Iran is intended to uphold freedom and democracy either, but to get rid of states that are refusing to go along with US and Israeli plans for the region.

Today, Syria is being held to account in Lebanon because it is refusing to back the occupation of Iraq, and Iran is facing threats over its nuclear programme because the US is worried about its role in relation to Iraq and its rejection of the status quo in Palestine.

Public opinion in the occupying countries, such as the US and Britain, needs to understand that the continuation of this unjust and dangerous situation will create the conditions for a new and more general uprising which threatens truly to open the gates of hell in the region and beyond. -Dawn/The Guardian News Service.

7. Well said
when a fundie or other GOP whacko tells me I'm going to hell, I usually say, "That's fine, as long as I don't have to sit next to George Bush".

6. Yeah, why else do you think the raging argument in their
Parliament was only covered for a few minutes before the television went blank. Do you think Americans will even notice it when it happens? I sometimes wonder if America would even notice if, come 2006 or 2008 no mention of elections was made and things just went on as "normal." How long do you think it would be before the sheeple asked each other when the next election was going to be?
