Foreign advertisements to "live in beautiful America"?
I've seen a lot of these in my email (Yahoo! Norway) lately:

There are two or three other variations of, "Come on, apply to live and work in America!"

I find it sort of odd. It doesn't seem like a very good business to be in, getting Europeans (Norwegians, at that!) to come to the US with Dubya as president.

concerned about America's declining population of European descent.

that will pay huge bucks. That's enough attraction for many.

4. A friend of mine was in a program like this--but Bush ruined it, as usual.
A friend of mine was accepted into a program where they send Brits over to America for a year, and they work at...usually clerkish jobs.

But because of Bush's America, the organization was having a hard time placing 'furriners'. Therefore, my friend remains in the UK.

7. You can see the same types of ads in Japan

I wonder if the Bushboy's antics have caused the number of applicants for legal immigration to go down a noticeable amount? Or perhaps one of the posters above is correct in saying that the administration believes that too few of its "approved" nationalities (Europeans, East Asians) and too many of the "unapproved" nationalities (Latin Americans, Africans) are coming in.

8. Those are usually scammers,
who try to sucker would-be immigrants. Really, even with Dubya, America ain't such a bad place. People emigrate from America, and people emigrate from Europe.

9. You're right!
I just clicked on the Japan Times ad, and it does indeed lead to a private organization that claims it will help people get green cards.

11. I recently received an email assurance,
that a great career awaited me in the US Armed Forces, but seeing that I'm 49, disabled and live in England, it didn't seem worth replying for more details.
