Daniel Pearl's killers made a demand: F-16s for Pakistan

Must admit I didn't know this, but I read earlier that was one of the demands Pearl's captors made on video, that America must sell F-16 jets to Pakistan. On its own that's very bizarre, but given the recent sale of, umm, F-16 jets to Pakistan, it becomes even more ridiculous. And worth a little reminder.

1. Yup. And not only that, but the mastermind of his abduction,

Omar Saeed Sheikh, was the guy who wired money to Mohammed Atta at the instruction of Mahmood Ahmed, chief of the ISI, Pakistan's military intelligence. Omar was both bin Laden's "favourite son," and an ISI operative.

You mention Bernard-Henri Lévy's Who Killed Daniel Pearl?, the cover of that book was where I read it!

I remember the quote about over involvement in intelligence games, and that Pearl was reportedly investigating links between the ISI and terrorism... that F-16 demand is some sick icing on the cake though, makes ISI's involvement seem almost blatant.
