Terri Schiavo's father pulled plug on his own mother (UK Guardian, 2003)
I apologize if this has been posted previously on DU, but I haven't seen it reported anywhere in the U.S. media, and happened across it only by following a link on the Oklahoma Democrats' forum:

But, given the vehemence with which he has been fighting to prolong Terri's life, it is a little surprising to learn that Robert decided to turn off the life-support system for his mother. She was 79 at the time, and had been ill with pneumonia for a week, when her kidneys gave out. "I can remember like yesterday the doctors said she had a good life. I asked, 'If you put her on a ventilator does she have a chance of surviving, of coming out of this thing?'" Robert says. "I was very angry with God because I didn't want to make those decisions."

1. Well, it has been reported, but MSM is still struggling with other
difficult facts like starvation vs. dehydration. This irony of the dad doing before what he doesn't want to do now is way above their pay grade.

2. It's been posted here a few times, but it bears repeating...
...still, these rightwingers are so shameless, they'd probably find some way to spin it if they had to...you know, the father knows "the truth" about what it's like to pull the plug on someone, which is why he is so determined not to do it with his daughter, etc., etc., blah, blah, blah...

3. The rightwingers would suddenly become the defenders of moral relativism.
"It was a different case with his mother."

Either you take whatever steps you can to prolong the heartbeat of a corpse, or you do not. But they can justify anything to themselves.

By the way, nice username. We have a koi in our pond named Trotsky.
