Senate Shut Down Update
Majority Leader Bill Frist has floated the idea of a congressional rule change to overcome Democrat-led filibusters of some of President Bush's socially conservative nominees. Minority Leader Harry Reid has countered that if that happens, he and his party will shut down the legislative process.

Now Frist is inviting Reid to meet after the Easter recess to hash out a much-needed repair of the process, amid news that some Democrats might be reconsidering their filibuster strategy.

Kay Daly, president of the Coalition for a Fair Judiciary, said Frist is taking a measured approach to the crisis.

"It's a very reasonable offer that Frist makes," she said. "But there is just no way that Reid is going to be allowed to accept it by some of these radical left-wing groups."

3. I can just imagine the negotiations.
"Ok Reid you let us have all the goose stepping Judges we want and we'll let you guys win a few seats next year ok?"

"Hmm, let me think about it-OK!"

2006 rolls around, Dems lose more seats thanks to rigged machines and repubs get a filibuster proof Congress. Oh happy day. ;(

8. Question
Minority Leader Harry Reid has countered that if that happens, he and his party will shut down the legislative process.

Is that true? This is the first I've heard it. I hope he means it!

11. Denying them a quorum
I imagine we can deny them a quorum. I wonder, though, if that won't be as popular with the sheeple as when Newt shut down the goverment.

12. JMHO
but, I want to see a very public shut down. Turn their backs and walk the hell out if this happens and then go on TV and try to explain to the oh so stupid, clueless American Sleeple what has happened and why it is important for THEM, not for the government, but for THEM to have representation and balance. If they do not do it publicly and loudly they will never get the microphone and we will finally be done for as a country. But then this is JMHO. I am far to angry these days to put up with much more shit from the Bush** people and their corrupt party.

14. The only reason the Repubs are considering the 'nuclear option'
is because they do not believe there will be a non-Republican president for a very long time.

They believe this because they know that they can keep their voting machines in place all over the country.

They need only;

1) Keep the accuracy of exit polls in question,
2) Continue to effectively label investigators and journalists 'conspiracy theorists',
3) Maintain enough distractions to effectively prevent election reform legislation from surfacing.

15. I think this is nonsense.
If anything, the Republicans must be thinking real hard about using the nuclear option in light of the polling on Terri Schiavo. They might find themselves committing political suicide on this issue.

In a way, I hope Frist does attempt it. It may help to energize the progressive majority in this country to take down the radical Republican theocratic fascists that are finally exposing themselves for all to see.

17. Playing "chicken" with Hillary, and Chuck, just to name two.
I hope Frist goes for it, because we'll finally find out which party Hillary belongs to.

I wanna see every dem get up in silence and walk the hell right out into the street. Then, I wanna see us all go down there and party in the street, and remember what this country was really created for:

representative government, for god's sakes.

THIS IS NOT THE UNITED STATES OF CHINA!!!
OR KOREA!
OR SAUDI ARABIA!

THIS IS MY COUNTRY!
