What would happen if Americans really KNEW?
Edited on Thu Mar-24-05 08:57 PM by serryjw
I feel like I have a secret and no one else wants to know the secret. Everyone is going on with their lives. They go to work, raise their childre, go on vacation and HAVE FUN! I feel like I am witnessing the begining of the end and I want to shout from the roof top to everyone to pay attention but no one can hear me.

How do you deal with knowing the truth?

1. Reduce it to 10 words or less. Write it on a sign, and
Stand on a street corner.

P.S. Foam-core board does quite nicely, light, easy to hold, and pretty durable.

3. That is why people need to know about the PNAC
The PNAC has laid out everything that Bu$h and Co. has been doing. Look who Bu$h has appointed to important positions for his 2nd term, all PNAC people.

People don't think all of these bad things could be connected, but if you read some about the PNAC, they tell you they want to do it this way.

The problem is I bet only 10% of America have ever heard of the PNAC.

13. Agreed. Send people to the website
If you point people to the PNAC website, http://www.newamericancentury.org / they will very likely have their eyes opened.
I have enlightened several people about this, and they have never been the same. Including one Republican who completely reversed his beliefs , left the Republican party, and works hard to educate others.

It's particularly powerful because it's not a site about the PNAC, it's their actual website, out in the open.

37. Those are the kind of people we'll never shake loose
They see what they want to see.

But at least he was able to see that it made the GOP look bad, that's pretty funny. I'd be more concerned about the people who see the site and want to sign up.

20. Yep
I've told a few people about this (those who I know aren't pro-Bush's) and they go "huh? what's that?" So I give them the pnac official site and all that. If they want the jist of it I tell them in a short summary what they are about.

27. Go deep into PNAC research and you'll find out very quickly
How MIHOP is very probable.

911 was the biggest wet dream for these guys. W/out it, not one part of their agenda would have been able to be acheived.

Because of 911, we are already underway w/ all the plans laid out up to about the 30th page of "Rebuilding America's Defenses".

4. If I'm surrounded by the completely obtuse,
I gently point out the most glaring inconsistancies and take comfort in the occasional "I never thought of that" that is thrown my way. People have to be led slowly, as no one could believe the enormity of the outrage all at once.

You also have to search out the like-minded. I know Denver has more than a few.

12. I am regularly among a group of the obtuse and just listen to them discuss
things. They eventually hit on something pertinent in which I can insert a niblet of fatual info. It's amazing how they grab onto it and take off. Most times they get downright outraged.

And like Maher said you can't start off with "I hate Bush and republicans." You have to leave general politics out of it and just start issues in general.

6. Kinda the same way
I deal with religion. I've judged and looked at the facts and come to a conclusion. Others live in ignorance, believing lies, don't care enough to know, or distract themselves with other things.

It's lonely, but you find like minds, and hold onto what sanity you can. Rejoice in the fact that you are not alone, there are others like you out there, and through work, some simpler people will see the truth.

23. Also I think what helps
is to know the truth is on your side and you know you're right no matter how crazy it sounds. Someday on down the line it will be known that it was right and you can have some little glory in that. I know I'm waiting for the day when the truth about Kennedy, 9/11 and Iraq come out and I can go "see? I tried to tell you...."

8. I try to imagine how the Germans who knew that Hitler was bad news
and what the Nazis were, and would be, doing to their country, felt. Imagine. A few saw what was coming. A few tried to assassinate him (they were assassinated, instead). And then they saw it happen.

I try to imagine that. The few who "got it." The masses never did....even many Jews. Until it was too late, that is.

The most we can do is to speak our mind. Participate in bipartisan forums. Speak up when a conservative says something to you offhandedly good about the administration. Remind them. Vote for the good guys.

10. I became even more introverted.
Its a nightmare to even try to explain this to people. There's this huge web of connections and when you start talking about one thing you inevitably run into something/someone else the person (you're trying to explain this too) doesn't know and then you have to go on that tangent. Then the tangent has stuff they don't know about so you have another tangent. By the time you get to something they can understand, you don't even know where you started. I constantly find myself saying "If you don't believe me...there were newspaper articles about" or "its real, just look here," because some of the stuff is so unbelievable...like gannon and the child prostitution ring of the 80's and some of the shit republicans say and do.

I have had the same experience trying to explain what's happening. It's so convoluted that I get lost in my outrage..I must admit if you recommend ONE book to someone whom wants to know it would be Crossing the Rubicon Michael did a great job tying all of this mess together.

When I have to explain shit to my FATHER, my Father. . can you imagine that? My dad, who in my mind was always the font of strength and wisdom and knowledge, and I'm hearing myself say dad, you're misinformed, deliberately misinformed. . .
and I did give him a computer last summer, but he can't even trust himself to check the email. He hates the thing. <sigh>

41. I fully agree
A diet of Faux News does that to people. To make it worse many of my friends also drink the kool aid, completely abandoning their (and my) ideals. It is terrible seeing your best friends of 50 years abandoning you because of your politics is quite depressing. It is no fun to be a blue dot in a sea of red. On the bright side, at least my Dad will still talk to me, just not about politics.

The one bumpersticker I won't recycle is my Kerry/Edwards bumpersticker. I'm stealing a line from a fellow DUer here: In case of rapture, I want Jesus to know I didn't vote for the antichrist!

My frustration lies only in the fact that so little "knowledge" reaches the people.

26. I think that collectively and as individuals we CAN make a difference;
we have to persist in trying to disseminate that knowledge in ways that will resonate with the people who are in the dark, and will motivate those who DO know but think it's good enough to let others worry about it or work to change it.
I know, it's frustrating as HELL to see many seemingly intelligent people so taken in by the shallow, style-over-substance bullshit tossed around by reThug politicians, and the damage being done to everyday people and their lives in the name of heaven knows what...
But we have to persevere!

..."moral man" is he?!! Every Republican president since Coolidge.... Connections to Franklin and MK-ULTRA, to the pedophile ring of Bush 41, down to the prostitute in the White House press room connected to soliciting of U.S. army ranger personnel!

"You have a pretty face." (Wh-a-at?) "You have a pretty face. You are much prettier than our Scott."

Tell them--just look up Bohemian Grove--if they DARE.

Then tell them to look up www.newamericancentury.org, the PNAC Website that others have suggested.

34. I go to crowded resturants and talk excitedly with my friends...
and quietly watch as the truth gets leaked out a bit at a time.

The whisper campaigns have begun.

I read INDY and TruthOut until I am full up and I went to the M19 protest in Minneapolis, MN to feel like I'm moving. I write to the newspapers when they don't report stuff, I tell them to stuff their paper if they aren't going to report real news. I support alternative news sources that DO tell the truth.

I live my life. I go out with friends and on vacation.... actually with a hard line repub this year. We'll see what happens. How long does it take to swim back from Aruba?

lost, as they are, in the "dark raptures of nonstop infotainment, recreational shopping, and compulsive motoring" . . . (see this Rolling Stone article) . . . http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/_/id/7203633?pag...

what they want more than anything is for no one to upset their apple carts . . . so instead of preparing for what's to come (and maybe helping to lessen the impact), they'll just continue doing what they're doing, oblivious to the world beyond their own personal sphere . . .

when the fecal matter impacts the rotating electrical appliance, they're gonna be fucked . . . unfortunately, so are we . . .

The end of the national myths. Most don't want to let go of them.

It will take a catastrophe to finish them. And not on the order of Vietnam.

Most Germans only knew in 1945.
