2. Yes, a ploy for sympathy
if the media were honest, they would point out that Terri has no gag or swallowing reflexes and that she could actually suffocate if someone tried to put water in her mouth. In fact, all of her feeding bypasses the parts where swallowing takes place. I feel so sorry and sad for this woman. Just let her go!

29. You are absolutely correct,. Please, though, the many long-time
posters here have been buried with this on the news for weeks, and just have gotten silly over every detail that keeps popping out right now. If you had time to read what I bet is well over 3,000 posts about T.S., you might see where they are coming from. I don't believe they mean any disrespect to Terri Schiavo. Most of us are still incredulous about these "Christians" denying TS the peace she deserves.

But yes, it is a dreadful time for everyone involved. Her parents will finally have to accept that she is gone. We have to make sure that her life or death do not become a platform for religious extremists and those who would trample upon the Constitution.

Let's hope it goes smoothly, Great Scott.

33. Fifteen years ago another Bush was President and funds for programs like
911 and emergeny services were being cut. It could very well be that a lack of first responder funding helped put this woman where she is today. Voting Republican has consequences I sure wouldn't want on my conscience..

34. It would be hilarious if one of these allegedly well-meaning
idiots killed her body. They are absolutely clueless about her condition.

You could argue that this would be a twisted schadenfreude intrusion into the Schaivo's affairs, but I'm not the one who dragged this affair into the public spotlight.

have all these nutcases arrested.

As my husband said: "It would be ironic if these yahoos manages to get in and give her that glass of water only to find out that glass was the cause of her death.

27. Last rites have been given
It was posted in another thread yesterday or day before. A priest came in and gave last rites, including putting a couple drops of wine into the feeding tube.

There are so many threads, I can't find the link.

9. This simply amazes me. Do these people have so little understanding
of her situation - after 15 YEARS, no less - that they don't realize that this could kill her?

Maybe that's the intention. Maybe this is all about power.

11. Maybe they should...
take that cup of water or the sandwich to some poor homeless guy who probably hasn't eaten as long as Terrie, and is at least aware of that fact. It seems these people pick and choose who they want to help and save. So, some poor woman who is in a PVS, who is basically devoid of all brain functions that make us individuals, deserves a snack while thousands of people starve everyday in this country and around the world. The money spent on keeping Ms. Schiavo's body alive could be used to feed so many people, but instead we'll pretend to be good Christians and not know about that.

11,023 homeless in Hillsborough, survey finds

The increase over the previous survey is blamed on a lack of affordable housing and wages that aren't high enough.

By MARCUS FRANKLIN, Times Staff Writer
Published March 23, 2005

TAMPA - The number of homeless people counted this year throughout Hillsborough County rose 36 percent since the last count, homeless advocates announced Tuesday.

Some 200 volunteers combed streets, shelters, motels, cars, tents, abandoned buildings and other common gathering spots to count people who lack permanent housing, the Homeless Coalition of Hillsborough County said.

The coalition, which coordinated the count, also collected figures on the homeless at the Department of Children and Families, the Hillsborough County School District and the county jail.

The unscientific total: 11,023. That's up from the 8,082 homeless people counted in the last homeless census, in October 2003. The totals don't include the homeless who are living with friends or relatives.

that her parents couldn't be around her? They haven't been near her in two years.

I read that somewhere just the other day. So how can she go give her water?

And she'll either cause her to choke or she'll respirate the water into her lungs, increasing her chance of dying by infection.

Gawd. Just shaking my head here.

On edit, I see now it's the preacher who would be doing this. Makes more sense now. He'll be arrested like the others. More grandstanding. Just LET the woman be in PEACE.

I can't imagine * being anything other than a second banana in a sitcom a la Paul Lynde in "Bewitched." Or maybe "Goober" in "The Andy Griffith Show" would be more his style.

Woman arrested after attempt to 'feed Terri'
By Times Staff Writer
Published March 23, 2005

A 55-year-old Missouri woman was arrested Tuesday, accused of trespassing at Hospice House Woodside. She is the seventh person arrested since Terri Schiavo's feeding tube was removed on Friday, according to the Pinellas Park Police Department.

16. The party's over
She'll be allowed to pass away peacefully.

My prediction - this is easy - is that the Supreme Court won't touch this so-called "case," and there are no legislatures anywhere who will do a thing.

It will end, and wouldn't it be interesting if she died during the Christian Holy Week?

Can't you just see the Professional Christians trying to make hay out of the timing?
