Prediction: A Bush will find a way to reinsert Terri's tube
and I bet the law permitting it will be passed on Easter Sunday.

What better theater than to have all the fundies declare Bush to be the true savior and the manisfestation of the returned Christ.

And it will work as the media will fawn all over the sorry spectacle.

2. Well, seeing as how he's trying to push through legislation in the FL
Legislature, it's a pretty safe prediction.

Most likely, it'll be the Good Friday Shiavo Culture of Life Act.

4. She could be dead by then
It's difficult to calculate such a political strategy, when it is not clear how long she will live without the tube.

8. Good point - I guess they can go with Good Friday (same holiday frame)
I imagine the Supreme Court will rule at some point today so that would give them enough time to draft something and ram it through like last time.

12. Jeb laready has legislation drafted and ready to go, but there are two
holdout senators and that's the roadblock right now.

Seems that 70% of Florida thinks this has gone on long enough, too.

with the new tape of delay saying god brought terri schiavo to the

conservatine movement (cnn played it this morning at least twice when i

was surfing) and the bad poll numbers, i think the the repubs will use

her as a martyr. but then again, they are fanatics so i won't take the

wager.

9. This is scaring (people on chats)
a LOT of people now into making out Living Wills because they DON'T want to kept alive like Teri. I have even seen CNN and MSNBC doing pieces on Living Wills. HOW is this helping the Fundie cause? Seems to having the exact OPPOSITE effect. Look at those Polls.

13. I think I agree with this prediction...

...the rightwing prefers "martyrs" to actual victory when it comes to these cultural issues, which they only use to fire up the more ignorant and bottom-feeding of their base. It's all just a show for the rubes. They actually need to lose these types of episodes, in order to keep their followers stoked and easy to manipulate while said followers choke on their own hate over the fantasy liberal boogie man.

Now, economic issues are where the elite rightwingers put their real efforts and absolutely refuse to lose (bankruptcy, ANWR, Social Security, etc.). But the religious right bottom feeders don't care about those so long as they are fooled into thinking they are being represented during these "cultural issue" circuses.

14. The problem is, the radical clerics are demanding the tube goes back in
they've convinced themselves that it can still happen via executive order and failure to do so will mean that the Republicans are not paying them back for the victories they handed the party.

17. Maybe...
...it all depends on whether the radical clerics are smart enough to finally see through the Republicans and how the Republicans never intend to give them any actual results, just more outrage.

Do you suppose this is what will suddenly make them smarten up and splinter off? Let's hope so.

7. I think she will die on Friday and rise from the dead on Sunday.
That would make a good story -- do you think?

10. Jeb's third attempt is sounds unconstitutional
I'm not a lawyer so maybe someone can comment on this. The news is saying he's getting the legislature together to push through a law that says all in Terri Schiavo's condition will require a feeding tube unless there is a written directive otherwise.

16. If that happens
considering the age of the typical Floridian, expect to see a mass exodus to other gulf coast or South Atlantic states and the Florida economy (especially real estate) to go bust big time.

15. Congress
will not pass another bill while she still lives.

The Democrats in the Senate, who rolled over on the first bill, won't do it on a second now that they see their is public support.

ONE SENATOR could have delated this bill for 48-72 hours, possibly more. By the time the got the Senate back into session, they would then have to vote to end the filibuster (which even one senator can use) -- the procedures for ending the filibuster takes 48 hours.
