Jesus Christ, Criminal
Catholic bishops, mindful of the way Jesus died, are mounting a campaign against the death penalty.

1. Bush is an Evangelist, he could give 2 shits for the Popes view on the
death penalty. Not to mention him and Gonzalez ran one of the most productive death factories in the state of Texas.

2. Evangalicalism and Catholicism are two different things
And any rate, it wasn't that long ago that American Baptists and Evangelicals talked long and loud about "Popish conspiracies" and the like.

3. Bush is a Methodist, not a Southern Baptist
United Methodist Church is officially against the death penalty. However, the Southern Baptist Convention is very large and influential in the Republican Party.

7. the Methodists oppose a ton of things dear to FundieMerka
They don't think kids should be force-fed Creationism; they're fairly gay-friendly; they let wimmens preach...

(first few that come to mind. But I like pulling these out whenever some Fundy tells me what "real Christians" believe--it's a blast to watch them writhe when they realize their Preznit belongs to one a' them "backslidin'" churches.)

6. That's what I said
as an Evangelical he doesn't care about the Vatican's point of view or anyone else's for that matter. If it doesn't fit into his fascist plans it's unAmurkin.

5. What's with your subject line?
It reads like you see Christ as a criminal. The article is by subscription only, so I couldn't read it to see if it would reveal the reason for your subject line.

8. Subscription Only
I don't know what happened here. The story wasn't subscription only when I accessed it shortly before posting the link. I don't have a subscription to a Kansas City newspaper.
