My letter to my RW Repbulican Representative...

I've written to this guy so much, discussing his 'Christian' take on things, that he has written me three personal letters. Hope he'll do the same for this one!

Dear Representative Bozzman,

I am writing to urge you to vote against the 'special', individualized legislatiion being pushed this weekend that allows the US government to meddle in the private rights of married couples...the Terri Schiavo case. Why would good Christians want to keep Terri from meeting her Savior for years to come? Why would the GOP want to interfere in the sacred bond between husbands and wives? Do they not support the 'sanctity of marriage' any longer?

I believe this legislation is way beyond the powers invested in the Congress. Or are the proponents telling us citizens that doctors and medicine in this country cannot be trusted? Is all scientific knowledge now declared null and void? This woman has absolutely no chance for recovery. Her cerebral cortex has been destroyed. But, of course, there are many in the House and Senate who must have more knowledge on the subject than those in the medical profession.

The GOP is proving that they want control and power over individual citizens...so much for 'of the people, for the people, by the people'. They want to override states' rights. And at the same time, they seek to drive even more millions of US citizens to the ranks of the uninsured, unable to sue against medical malpractice, and unable to declare bankruptcy when they are hit by excessive medical expenses. Talk about hypocrisy!

Why is there no legislation pending that would supply free medical care for life to the disabled? Don't we have the 'culture of life'? Guess that doesn't apply to those on death row or the murdered Iraqi civilians. And please, ask Tom Delay (get-the-focus-off-my-illegal-activities) why he didn't press for 'special' legislation for Sun Hudson last week. The removal of life support, against his mother's wishes, took place right in his beloved Texas.

According to doctors at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., 60 percent of the wounded soldiers coming back from Iraq have traumatic brain injuries.

Unfortunately, the Bush administration has recently completely zeroed out funding for the Federal TBI Act, which provides exactly this kind of help.

In Vermont, due to recent decisions concerning budgetary shortfalls, TBI survivors are now prevented from entering the Vermont TBI Medicaid Waiver Program, which delivers exactly this kind of help.

Please call the governor [phone] and our congressional representatives and ask them to support the Vermont TBI Medicaid Waiver Program.
