9/11 Victims ask same questions as Will Pitt
Edited on Sat Sep-13-03 12:28 AM by ewagner
A few days ago Will posted a number of questions concerning NORAD's response, or, more specifically lack thereof, on 9/11.

The following questions are being asked by the Steering Committee of the families of 9/11 victims. Some of the questions were asked on NOW with Bill Moyers this evening.

NORAD

1. At precisely what time was NORAD notified of each plane being hijacked? What was their response? What is the name of the individual who determined from which bases the F-16¹s should be scrambled from? What are the names of the pilots of these f-16¹s?

2. Whose decision was it to not utilize the F-16’s weapons?

3. Whose decision was it to not fly the F-16’s at maximum speed?

4. Why didn’t the F-16’s intercept the hijacked airliners?

5. Please draw up a chart of NORAD’s response to the Payne Stewart Lear jet incident vs. the 9/11 incident. Why was protocol not followed on 9/11? What is the name of the individual who did not follow protocol? Where are the transcripts from the F-16’s? Where is the log and record from NORAD?

6. What satellites were orbiting North American airspace on 9/11? What exactly does the satellite imaging reveal? What companies own these satellites? Where are the records and logs for these orbits?

A note to Will: They are asking the questions in the same way you are.........and still not getting any answers.

1. I'm not sure I saw that thread.

Anyone remember the thread subject line?
I do remember another thread where Will stated that there definitly were F-16 and F18 at Andrews on the morning of 9/11 which really got my attention because isn't the offical story that there were no fighters at Andrews on that morning. What gives?

4. A defense so nice, you posted it twice
Its good that you signed up to come in here and only defend the president. Let me guess, you think that we are un-American for questioning the actions of that day and some of Bush's decisions?

Haven't you been trolling here long enough?

But now that I have the attention of a right-winger, can you answer me one question?

In what way did the 9/11 attacks hurt the Bush administration?

Don't give me crap about Americans dying. Get this: He doesn't care.

Don't you think its interesting that 9/11 has benifitted him in many ways, and he has acted to block, limit, or discourage any investigation of what went wrong that day?

5. Concinnity - Question
Edited on Sat Sep-13-03 01:05 AM by JasonBerry
One of the benefits of being a paid member (contributer) of DU is that you can use the "search" function. Now that I've read every post you have posted, it appears to me that you are quite conservative, have an admiration for Bush's resume and feel that we are expecting too much from Bush in Iraq. Are you a Democrat???? On a 1-10 scale - out of curiosity - where do you place your liberalism (with 1 being not liberal at all to 10 being a socialist?) I am honestly curious what brought you to -- and keeps you at -- at DU? Just curious.

6. With all due respect, perhaps if you had lost a loved one
on that day you might feel differently. One of the main questions that Kristen Breitweiser (I know I misspelled that, sorry) asked was why jets were scrambled within minutes to track Payne Stewart's plane when it went off course, why did the highjacked planes fly around for nearly two hours-and no jets were scrambled? I don't know why I am even rebutting this, you probably won't answer. If you were posting this to get a rise out of someone, you can go to bed now. Consider it "Mission Accomplished".

8. Remove the tinfoil hat
Some of these questions are ridiculous.

1: Names of duty personell are generally restricted information as government employees have at least some right to privacy.

2: The use of weapons would require a positive decision (i.e. deadly force authorized), at the civilian level, rather than a negative decision (i.e. deadly force not authorized) at the military level.

3: There are regulatory issues with breaking the sound barrier in US airspace. Someone in authority would need to give permission (again, a positive decision) for the regulation to be ignored. Further, fighter aircraft do not carry enough fuel to sustain maximum speed for a prolonged length of time.

6: Which satelites were over North America on 11 Sep 2001 can be determined by anyone with two year old TLEs (orbital elements) and satellite tracking software. Everything necessary can be found on the Internet.

No publically-acknowledged imaging satelites have the capability to track aircraft in flight. Data from any military or NRO radarsat capable of tracking aircraft will be classified top secret (means, methods and capabilities) and will not see the light of day for any reason. The US government has limited to no control over any commercial or non-US radarsats that may have noted aircraft movements on Sept 11.

If you wish to uncover `the truth` behind why Sept 11 happened, take off the tinfoil hat and start looking at both the money trail between the Bush family and Saudi Arabia and the administration`s selective deafness for intellience reports.

10. Those are not ridiculous questions.
Maybe some of the families don't have the internet/computer savvy that you do. Further, that someone who'd need to give permission - like maybe the so-called president - could certainly do so in a case where, after the first plane hit and it was established that there was another plane off course and off transponder (as the first one had been) and that air traffic controllers heard one of the hijackers say "We have other planes" - and it was becoming pretty damned evident that this was no simple mistake or pilot idiocy. We were under attack that day and those people did nothing. There may even have been a stand-down order given. All kinds of regulations about supersonic flight in US airspace - by fighter jets in time of attack - could and should be waived. Again, they knew and they did nothing.

Besides, when I was a reporter, we had a professional news mantra in the back of our minds, fueling and informing everything we did while covering a story. That mantra was "there is no such thing as a stupid question." The problem is when you DON'T ask the quesions.

I'd SO rather prefer having these, OR ANY BLOOMIN' QUESTIONS asked, and asked AGAIN, than to see this issue just drop - as the rethugs in general, and bushies in particular would like.

11. protocol was not followed
the protocol that says to assume the worst when a commercial jet changes course and does not respond to communications, and/or when it turns off its auto responder (both did happen in this case). Assuming the worst would include scrambling fighter planes. This protocol circumvents many of the problems you mention.

If this protocol would have been followed, many lives could have been saved.

Why was the protocol not followed?

Cause they wanted their money's worth. Both the money trail and the screw up on protocol are part of the same story.

Many that need answering. Kudos and blessings to

asking them.
