Freepers harrass Lewis Black on stage in Pittsburgh
He performed here not long ago -- I was unable to attend. But a LTTE from someone who attended told a sickening story about how some drunken Bush fellator assholes attempted to hijack the show. Brown Shirt goons!

"I purchased tickets to his Byham show last week for a group of nine fans who were looking forward to an evening filled with thought-provoking humor. However, there were two men sitting directly behind us who didn't seem to understand the reason people need humor. They were clearly intoxicated and became very belligerent as the show became more political, making it very difficult for the entire audience to enjoy. One man screamed, "Let's NUKE them!", regarding the terrorists, while Mr. Black was trying to entertain the sold-out crowd.

As Mr. Black tried to work with this heckler, the second man became very personal with his verbal attack, going so far as to mention Mr. Black's failed marriage and the fact that he has no children, for whom the soldiers are .

I understand people's passion regarding issues that we as a country face, but I was just looking to laugh until I cried, which was happening up until this point. Mr. Black was so taken aback by this behavior from the two men in the balcony and the fact that they were allowed to continue their verbal assault, I believe he ended his show prematurely.

Thank God for the one woman who had the guts to tell them, "We didn't pay to see you." This seemed to shock the men as the crowd responded with applause to the woman's courageous comments. The men immediately exited the theater at the conclusion of the show before the lights came on. Go figure. Isn't it always the way. "

Gee -- this sounds as though it was a prolonged episode. Where the hell were the fucking ushers and the management? I'd demand my money back if I had to endure this disruption.

1. I wouldn't demand money back.
Because that would only hurt Lewis Black. I would demand to know why security was not asked to escort the disruptors out.

5. I agree
When someone threw a shoe at the Dean debate not long ago the security was on it right away. I'm sure they were on it when someone threw a pie at Ann Coulter. I love it when Black is on the Daily show. He's so hilarious. I'm sure his live show is awesome. Comedy Central should have a night for him.

9. I love the man
I am very angry about this.

Gee, they sound like "Jeff Gannon" wannabe types -- having "researched" that Black had been divorced and didn't have children -- and tried to use that to "smear him", character assassinate him over these personal matters.

I can't imagine anything more pathetic than "Jeff Gannon" wannabes.

20. What you do is call the cops
To get there names. Then bring a class action suit against them for the ticket price for everyone at the show. Because they ruined the night for all. You wouldn't have a problem getting witnesses.

7. Nazi goons
They have to shit on everything that isn't already defiled with their totalitarian stench.

This was a common tactic used by Brownshirts in Germany in the 30s -- shouting down people, and later physical intimidation or violence.

I guess their fantasy world is so fragile that they cannot let anyone fall out of their Nazi lockstep.

11. Jerks & bullies will keep it up until more of us do what the women in the
audience did - confront them. Do not wait for someone else to do it. If you see it happen, confront then and there.

Democracy is not a spectator sport. The wingers count on us having the good manners to not interrupt them when they are being assholes. We have the element of surprise when we stand up toe to toe to them.

Edited on Fri Mar-11-05 03:08 PM by fooj
No...he was AWESOME! What a shame! Members of the audience should stage a full-on protest as to why these assholes were allowed to disrupt his performance! Demand a refund!!! Money talks, unfortunately...

12. I was at the show.
It wasn't bad at all - just some dumbass expresing his opinions about the war.

Black asked the rest of us to calm down and said the world is a pretty fucked up place at the moment. If we couldn't come together for a night to laugh about it, we were in big trouble. (Not an exact quote, but along those lines.)

At the time he was talking about how different the terrorists were from anything we have ever seen. So different we can't get our heads around what they're doing. That we need to out-crazy them - put Reagan's dead body in the WH and send pictures of Senators and Congressman carrying on conversations with him to al-Jazeera. That would give them second thoughts about those crazy Americans.

13. Thanks for first hand account
I am glad that it was a brief disruption. Sounds like LB handled the event in a graceful way.

I bet it was a great show.

Regarding the "Crazy Americans" stuff -- not as far fetched as you might think. Nixon tried to enlist Kissinger to tell Asian and Soviet leaders that Nixon was seriously deranged and capable of anything, in order to scare them.

17. Fantastic news for him
He's controversial. His voice was too strong and the freepers wussed out and lost it. Instead of a crisp little sideswipe in a column from Brooks or Malkin they have to counterattack on the spot like the drunken buffoons they are. And bang, L.B. is one step closer to the other L.B. (Lenny Bruce).

I think he's brilliant and his points ARE valid, as well as funny as hell. Only seen him on HBO and I'd love to see him live.

19. I would have "spilled" my drink on them by accident.
I've done it before and will do it again. Anyone who sits behind me in a theater and tries to fuck up my (RARE) evening out gets a 42 oz. rootbeer shower.
