Local universities to require health insurance.
Just caught a VERY short blurb about this on the local news last night.

Local universities will require students to carry health insurance.
They claim they are losing money when students get sick and don’t attend?!?

It hit me as just another ploy to keep lower income students from attending.
When I was in college I worked third shift at a gas station just to make
enough to pay my 1/4 of the rent and to buy food. Health insurance would have
been out of my reach.

They didn't go into details... Maybe the U's will offer discounted health insurance for students.

Is this common now? Is it happening in other states?

1. Do you know of any more stories about this?
This is crazy and I'd like to look into the subject more.

3. I have a link from back in Feb.
It's from CNN covering a story from Ohio. I thought this might become a trend in the future and decided to keep an eye on it.

2. Hmm at San diego State
not only did they have student health services, but a low cost health insurance that they encouraged us to take every sememster, added 15 dollars to the fees

if, and this is a big if, they do something like this, well it is a good thing.. otherwise this is a way to keep students out of school
