What does this say for us? Where is reason?
OK, so I'm unemployed with some time on my hands and for the first time in a long time I turn on C-Span. I used to think that at least C-Span had some semblance of truth to it.

This fat repuke guy is saying in response to a caller that Saddam probably didn't use his WMDs against the US troops because he hoped to gain support and sympathy from the rest of the world community if he did not use them.

Well if that were true, then

WHERE IN THE HELL ARE THE WMDs NOW ??????????????????????????

If he had them and chose to not use them they must still exist, right? If he had them and chose not to use them and destroyed them where is the evidence of that?

Isn't that the obvious question to ask? Brian? anybody? Does anybody understand logic?

But NO! No one challenges the statement !!!!!!!!

We are surely a fucked up society! I would not be surprised to read such tripe over in freeperville but on C-Span?

Even on the News Hour I see the same thing. Pitiful!

Is there anyplace on national TV where propaganda doesn't pass as truth?

1. This just in: Bush Officials say WMDs have been so hard to find...
...because they're constructed using top-secret high-tech components called vaporware.

2. Not to mention that he was soooo evil he used them on his own people
He sure didn't care about the sympathy of the world then. Their whole rational now is that he was sooo evil that he needed to be removed no matter if he had weapons or not. He is either sooo evil he cares not what the world thinks or he is a nice guy that doesn't want the world to be mad at him. Which is it?

3. This is all an exercise in the failure of our education system
The longer this maliciously-seeded malaise goes on, the more I am convinced that we are where we are today because of the failure of our country's education system to educate EVERYONE in the basics of critical thought and some fundamentally useful level of knowledge about the world around us.

Regardless of if you are going to carve birdhouses in shop class, work on cars in automechanics, test out of your whole freshman year in AP classes, or just muddle your way through all the regular stuff, ALL of us need a basic ability to think critically and some basic level of knowledge about the world around us and how our government works.

A fundamental useful education, as opposed to a fundamental practical education, must be brought back in order for our country to survive. Otherwise we will only fall more and more into the role of drooling morons to our government's propaganda. And I don't mean only the Bush administration; politicians of all stripes will heed the vulnerability of the populace to propaganda after this administration is long gone.

4. education
Germany's propaganda in WW11 worked very well on it's citizens. When it is repeated over and over again it creeps into the mindset. I feel it is working in our country. Repubs say the same thing daily in order to doctrinate all of us. On some people it works.

5. Very few places, Mountainman
The Amerikan Empire's Pravda situation is darlk and ugly, but occasionally rays of truth, of actual stories, sneak through.

But they are covered weakly, almost never make it to Corporate TV Pravda, and then are routinely "countermeasured" by the Party-Loyal Right-Wing Sub-Media who shout and scream and obfuscate and lie to the point where people throw up their hands in confusion.

But it can and probably will get much worse as the Imperial Darkness continues to fall.

6. Same place they've always been
Sitting in a warehouse in Maryland, waiting for the chance to smuggle them into Iraq.

(Not counting the ones I smuggled out in my seabag, of course)

7. What Hawker said...
(I was going to joke that "Saddam just shipped 'em back to us
so we could sell them to the next dictator we propped up",
but I think the truth is far more poignant.)
