NBC in Talks to Buy MSNBC Stake
Report: NBC in Talks to Buy MSNBC Stake

Thursday, March 3, 2005

(03-03) 14:04 PST New York (AP) --

NBC Universal is in talks to buy out Microsoft Corp.'s stake in MSNBC, the struggling news cable channel, according to a news report Thursday.

The New York Post, quoting unnamed sources, reported that the two companies are in advanced talks to close a deal that would put NBC Universal in full control of MSNBC, while Microsoft would still have access to some of NBC's content for online use.

A spokesman for NBC Universal, a unit of General Electric Co., declined to comment, as did a spokesman for Microsoft.

Will there be changes in store with MSNBC if this happens?

2. The MS(ft) part of MSNBC always seemed a little odd
Wasn't it part of MS's panic back in the late 90's when it thought it might miss out in the internet content business or something?

3. Ari Fleischer - Daily Show
I can't start my own threads.

Ari Fleischer is the guest on Daily Show Tonite.

There were a few stories this week that Rob Cordry showed up at a NYC Councilman's press conference as "Dino Ironbody". The Councilman played along supposedly. It's suppose to air tonite.

5. Sounds good to me!
I'd be happy if they just changed it to "NBC News Channel" or something instead of MSNBC.

They've really gotta do something for that station though, compared to CNN and Faux News, it looks cheap and sad. (in regards to set design, graphics, etc...)
