About Cheney being asked not to go to services...
Why does this make sense at this memorial service (media accepting the explanation of the problems that his security detail would cause), while the same request for the same reasons just less than a year ago in Minnesota was the beginning of the meme that the Wellstone service was "political"?

1. Bloomberg's a Repub, as much as the Right tries to spin it
away from that.

Bush und Cheney want to keep the GOP September Lovefest at North & South, so the shrill SCLM can't piss them off.

9. Okay, translation:
The Mayor of New York, even though he's a converted Dem, is still a Republican.

Bloomberg will still try to carry the party.

North and South refers to the two towers.

The September GOP lovefest is the national convention that the GOP plans on having in New York in 2004 so that they can play politics with the terrorist attacks. They want it staged so that they can really play on the "patriotism" of the party (you're not with us? You're with the terrorists).

Does that help?

4. Just a year ago, security for bush JR. was not an issue
I think clearly the families must have complained.

5. I think, at least privately, this is probably the case
especially since the city has been stiffed by the administration (and the newest news about the EPA reporting).

But still, the media treats it at face value. The radio/tv talking heads take it at face value.

Those some folks began the spin - before the Wellstone Memorial even began, that it was political not a memorial - and began that spin with the families request that Cheney not attend - because the security procedures (having to check/id etc every person attending) would create havoc. But that excuse was deemed by the media as fake. But for Bloomfield - legitimate.

Remember this the next time a wingnut refers to the politicization of the Wellstone Memorial.

6. Chenny in NYC.
NYC is bankrupt. Why would MB want the lyer CHENNY around. HEY that's police overtime, bigtime.

This happens everywhere these creeps go. We pay when the corrupt weasels go to collect from their paymasters.

In passing, think now. If you give these whores $100 you get millions or billions in return. It has to be the best investment ever,if you have no scrupules.

8. aWol and heidi hole
aWol and heidi hole aren't going where they can't control the photo opp.

Nobody wants their asses around insulting the dead, wounded, scarred.

aWol can have his little moment of silence on the WH lawn where the cops and barricades keep We the People hundreds of yards away.

Heidi Hole only leaves his bunker for money-making events where the guest list is carefully vetted.

10. A second thought.... maybe the difference is
that BUSH and CHeney didn't want to go (remember actual protestors have been in eyes view of the boyinchief for several visits now, and he appears to be getting testy). Perhaps Bloomberg was complying to give cover to Cheney (it would look bad if the admin chose to ignore the celebrations... but if they were asked not to come they would appear 'respectful'). Thus no hullaballo.

I still think we need to remember THIS the next time wingers talk about the Wellstone memorial. If nothing else to say - see it was a concern in NY as well (even if there was more going on - it is how the story has been portrayed in the press).
