He was trying to do that whole "Live long and prosper" thing, but he never could get the Vulcan hand signal down right...despite hours of practice. You can see it in his eyes. He's thinking "Man, Leonard Nemoy is so cool! How'd he ever do it? I mean, I get the acting part. I've gotten away with acting smart for almost ten years now. It's that damn hand thingy.."
