A question for those who "converted" voters to Kerry

Now that we're past the election, inauguration, getting ready to march on Iran, and strike surgically at Syria...any updates on how things are going? What sort of comments have you been getting from those who you convinced to vote for Kerry?

I'm just curious if the one's we worked so hard on have reverted or become more convinced since they voted.

I've seen no convincing evidence that either of those are imminent. Have you heard something I haven't?

as Dr. Phil says, past behavior is the best predictor of future performance (or something like that). Listening to the administration and surrogates, it sounds like history's repeating itself.

We haven't got the wherewithal to march into Iran, nor does Bush have the political will to endure the inevitable shitstorm that would rain down on him if he struck at Syrian. I think there's pretty solid evidence to back up both of those statements.

3. Every convert i talked to was...

ready to convert anyway...so...maybe i heard a lot of dissappointment after the election, but mainly what i hear from them now is that they wont vote party again at all..wait and see seems to be the trend with those who i have spoken to lately.

I can't think of any of them who would prefer to be represented right now in Europe by a half-wit pseudo-cowboy spewing out blustering comments like:

"All this talk about the U.S. attacking Iran is ridiculous. Having said that, all options are still on the table."

That remark was singularly imbecilic but nevertheless typical of Dubya's general tone and range. He's a moron. And he's dangerous.

People I know who voted Kerry-Edwards would vote for them again tomorrow in a heartbeat.

10. Most of those I convinced....

...were either Green or apathetic. The Greens are pissed because they feel like they wasted their vote, and the apathetic are saying, "SEE! Why waste my time! The whole thing is rigged!"

The pronouncements from the DLC that the poor showing of Green candidates gives them a mandate to move further to the right has only made things worse. The Greens who crossed over and voted for Kerry feel betrayed, and many of them (ALL) are swearing "Never Again".

I don't KNOW of any repubs that I influenced enough to cross over.

Were disgusted at Kerry's quick concession. At that
point they figured everything they were hearing from
the SBVT must've been true.

They said they'd never vote for a Dem again. Instead
would vote for the Apathy Party.

12. Kerry's rapid concession did not convince them he's a fighter.

We don't talk about it much, because there isn't anything to say. The mood seems to be that Kerry is more entrenched in the status quo and, although he would be a good president (certainly compared to bush), that he didn't stand his ground. Didn't even believe the election was tainted.

I've got some people kind of p.o.'d at me for giving them hope when there in fact was no hope to be found, because Kerry just refused to acknowledge the election fraud.

13. Oh no - I think people have become MORE convinced and...

one Republican who weaseled at the last minute and voted for Bush - but voted Democratic the rest of the ticket due to Farenheit 9/11, etc., is now feeling like an idiot.

I think Bush is scaring the pants off everybody except the REALLY hard right and the crazy-ass xtians.

As far as Kerry's concession speech: IMO he knew we'd been had - from the exit polls - and figured, shit, we're screwed. Might as well get back in the saddle and try to limit the damage from the Senate. The three million popular vote margin was just too much. Plus Edwards' wife was very sick.

Meanwhile I think the Green Party did us a HUGE service in forcing the recount. Given time and hard work the legal system may yet save our bacon.

15. Most people I converted

have said that Bush is horrible and that Kerry wouldn't be any better. I argue about the things he wouldn't be doing that Bush is now, but they just don't like him. They say it was a shitty choice this year and they hope we get better candidates next year.

17. The few Republicans I know who voted Kerry

Were voting against Bush not for Kerry. They are even more displeased with Bush now. Most have sited the issue of SS and the problems in Iraq. A couple are worried about what he may do in Iran.
