I believe this is freakin' BIG...help, please...re:gannon
OK, so, I'm like googling around on the White House Press Association. I googled their phone number. it turned out that the phone number was used by one Wayne Coy, Jr. (his dad was an FDR honcho and had been head of the FCC in the 40s or 50s--haven't researched him yet) on this page:

http://www.fccinfo.com/CMDProEngine.php?sCurrentService=TV&tabSearchType=Appl&sAppIDNumber=599944

who says he is a lawyer for Cohn and Marks; he gives a website address, but it's weird:

http://www.cohnmarks.com

so, my interest's piqued. What's this guy doing using the WHPA phone number? I kept googling, and he filed the papers for Western Montana College, KDWG-FM, Dillon, MT. Don't know why a Washington lawyer with his rep would be handling this tiny little college's radio station. I scrolled down and my heart nearly stopped.

THE BULLDOG! *THE* Bulldog!

http://cu.imt.net/~jabender/mvi/kdwg/

(scroll down)

given that Gannon was also a radio broadcaster...

also note that it's "BulldaWg" with the W in red, looking like a freaking longhorn, fer god's sake!

I just don't remember now how I got onto the WHPA. I know it had something to do with all of this, but I'm so tired and have looked at like a million sites... can anyone help?

6. yes, I know, but...
the question is, how did researching the WHPA's phone number lead HERE, to the exact bulldog image, with a giant red W that looks like a longhorn symbol?

2. probably not gannon related--send it to Susan G
at the Daily Kos diaries/ blogs. She's been compiling every mention of the gannon thing and trying to make sense of it, if there is any.

5. I don't know... but I don't think it's unrelated since I was
specifically googling on the WHPA and the phone number Wayne Coy, Jr. uses... the fact that THE bulldog popped up was purely a surprise. But there's another thread somewhere here linking WHPA to Gannon... I just don't remember where it was.

3. I don't know its origins
but that exact bulldog image is real popular, especially among schools, from kindergarten to college.

7. does anyone know what "chizzy" is?
it seems to be some sort of virtual pet thing, hosted by montanavision, but there also seems to be some sort of porn thing related...

has this headline, which leads to this non-story...Timonium's I4 Commerce helps Petco feed the bulldog

Handling a ton of license renewals for stations.

http://www.qsl.net/k6fb/ss9712.html
Something to do with amateur radio.
(On edit: This one actually seems to refer to Wayne Coy, Sr., who died in 1957 and had been head of the FCC. See http://www.depauw.edu/library/archives/ijhof/inductees/coyw.htm)

http://www.hallikainen.com/lpfm/comments/KSEL.html
Letter to the FCC on behalf of a broadcaster.

So this seems to be simply what he does -- and filing papers for a college station wouldn't be at all out of line with the rest of it.

10. don't have a clue as to what a 'chizzy' is
but Western MT College has ALWAYS had name Bulldogs, or the more familar DaWgs for team/mascot. Doubt AKA Gannon has anything to do with it.

Here is homepage of the UMWest radio station:
http://www.umwestern.edu/kdwg/

Somebody might see if DinoBoy is up and has any comment. He is not too far from the Western campus.

11. what is the White House Press Association?
The proper entity is the White House Correspondents Association.

Or the White House Photographers Association.

There is no legitimate White House PRESS Association, as far as I know.

12. Might want to see if Wayne Coy is really Wayne Coy...
Remember Jeff Gannon was really James D. Guckert. Wonder how many more of these nameless wonders we have running around in the Washington Press Corps.?
