I have a couple of questions that I would like a bush supporter to answer
If Syria isn't getting in line with the movement of Democracy in the Middle East... Tell me how Saudi Arabia is? Or Kuwait for that matter? Why are we allies with either of these countries, since neither give women any rights and seem not to be moving toward a Democratic society either?

Saudi Arabia is filled with citizens that despise the U.S... their fundamentalist religion condemns us. They sponsored telethons to raise money for Palestinian families of suicide bombers. Saudis "supposedly" composed 15 of the 19 hijackers in the 911 attack. So how can bush say Syria is out of step with what is happening in the Middle East without saying the same for Saudi Arabia?

Just Wondering.....

1. Great question...
I am not very knowledgeable about foreign matters. I've always felt personally that the United States is not in the position to buck the Saudis at this point. I believe that the U.S.'s strategy is to occupy every country they possibly can in the Middle East, and then, and this could take decades, destroy Saudi Arabia. But I can't really explain why. I would love to hear a theory from someone who really understands.

2. ...its all about money
just read Unger's House of Saud House of Bush...it turned my stomach....the Saudis have "played " the Texans for years and the Bush Co. has been "playing " back....Money is their God. I have a question for Bush supporters as well. I believe that the Bible says :the love of money is the root of evil....

5. Jokinomx you are a HOOT!
bush supporters are incapable of answering these questions as it would require INDEPENDENT THINKING. If it's not in the RNC/FOX playbook it does NOT COMPUTE!

7. Thanks.....
I would have liked to have a LOGICAL answer by a neo-con.....but...of course I know there isn't one. As some of the posts have stated, its all about the oil. It not about WMDs, its not about getting rid of a bad guy, its not about human rights, its not about establishing Democratic values.... its about getting the oil. If anyone thinks otherwise they are living in la la land.

We(the U.S.)knew that Saddam was not a threat. After ten years of severe sanctions the country was in shambles. The infrastructure needed massive attention. Saddam had secured major oil contracts with Russia. All that was needed was to have the weapon inspectors to agree that there were indeed no WMDs. This administration couldn't take that chance. Saddam would have never sold an ounce of oil our way...let alone millions of barrels. Maj. Ritter had confirmed that it looked as though Saddam was complying. Saddam knew it was either comply or watch your entire country collapse. So he did comply...

Anyway.... I answered your response because I laughed out loud when I read it....:-).

My question does show that the neo-cons can't answer my question though. I know there are a few lurkers here. Anyway

A week or so ago... the documentary "House of Saud" played on PBS. It was VERY interesting. It really showed the nightmare games that we have had to deal with to get that precious oil.

Thanks to all that posted ....However, I would still like to hear "their" answer to my question though.

:toast:

6. It's about the oil.
It's always been about the oil. Here's what Dick Cheney's Defense Policy Guidance report said back in 1992:

"Our overall objective is to remain the predominant outside power in the region and preserve U.S. and Western access to the region's oil."

You can't put it much more clearly than that.
