George W Bush interviewed by UK Daily Telegraph
I just thought it would be best to post this gubbins here for your dissemination.

Bush rejects moves to boost EU military might

President George W Bush set strict limits on the EU's global ambitions last night, saying that there was no need for the Franco-German goal of forming an alternative superpower.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, his first with a British newspaper since his re-election last year, he pointedly rejected a call by Chancellor Gerhard Schröder for Nato to be overhauled. Mr Schröder's words have been widely interpreted as an attempt to give the EU's fledgling foreign and military bodies more muscle.

1. Naturally...
... in the Telegraph, on whose board Richard Perle sits.

The upshot of all this is that Europe better not remake NATO in its own image, and the cold-blooded imperial ambitions of the Bushies are morally superior to the hot-blooded nationalist ambitions of mere Arabs resisting occupation.

Bush is so fuckin' transparent.

Perhaps you might be inclined to expound on that remark further?

4. NATO out!
Edited on Sat Feb-19-05 06:14 AM by dutchdemocrat
Mr. Bush realizes he can't spread 'freedom' alone? What a joke... I say ignore him and let's get on with it in Europe. NATO out and Europe in... align with Russia, chummy up with China and balance things out some more.

The propaganda is not an appealing one to most Europeans anyway. What's Bush going to do about it anyway? Beat up Chirac or Schröder? Invade Europe?

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.

9. Hitchens is a Neocon
A former Trotskyist - he's a traitor and did nothing but cheer the US military actions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Both him and David Horowitz are pathetic like two Trots in a pod... Hitchens reminds me of... think Dennis Miller, another parasite grabbing onto the Bush ideological bandwagon for shameless self promotion.

I don't find any value or credulity in the belief that Michael Moore, Mel Gibson and Mother Theresa are among the most sinister people one can imagine - both present and past.

11. Mountains out of molehills
You won't find too many of those people outside of the "reactionary teenagers" demographic.

On the other hand, some people find it hard to not feel vindicated when their (negative) predictions come out to be true. Call it the "I told you so" factor. I think there are very few people like those you describe. The right wing loves to point out every instance of this group to make the whole left look bad, but their numbers are so small and their ideology so obviously absurd that they are irrelevant.
