Predict the future...
I've been wanting to ask this for awhile here:

Predict the domestic political and global situations in 2024.

Anybody wanna play?

3. what future???
Three areas of power - Euro/Africa, Asia (russia/China & mid-east) and Americas.
No real replacement for oil as world supplies grow scarce, tensions constant over remaining supplies.
Ice melt at poles goes on as land masses continue to shrink.
Starvation and disease rampant in all areas.
Michael Jackson trial goes into 20th year.

4. It begins in 2005...
Edited on Wed Feb-16-05 07:29 PM by fiziwig
when the first hints of civil war in the US begin to break out sporadically in isolated locations. By 2015 it has turned into a hot war which, worse than ETA or the IRA at their worst, looks like it will go on forever except...

China, getting tired of competing in the oil market with all the other energy hungry countries decides it wants control of the world's supply of oil and marches into the middle east with unprecedented force and numbers, showing the neocons the REAL meaning of "shock and Awe".

The neocons decide to fight back and China preemptively launches against the continental US in 2015. A large number of major cities are destroyed and what's left settles back into an agrarian society reminiscent of the US in the late 1800's, but with continuing partisan warfare on a smaller scale.

China, having swallowed Japan, both Koreas, and all points between, becomes the super power of the 21st century. The EU is second in rank and holds China at bay in a new permutation of cold war. The US becomes a backwater; a footnote in the history books and slips, almost unnoticed, into a prolonged "dark age".

Don't say I didn't warn you.

Bush's Star Wars System which never actually did work and the resultant Arms Race was the beginning of the end.

7. Madonna's daughter will have her 2nd album out...oh! political...hmmm...
India will have found a true democracy.

The middle east will be in a power struggle as the world is being forced to transition from fossil fuels. Israel will be caught in the middle even though they have come to an agreement and Palistine has formed its own nation.

The EU will be a major super power, but will be forced to shed some of their old business practices to compete with China and will do that by outsourcing to Africa.

The United States will have closer ties to APEC than the EU economically. Through necessity the US will have to form a free trade pact with South and Central America tied in with a fairly substancial environmental/defense package focusing on the Amazon and the protection of the Panama Canal.

Social Security will have been re-overhauled a couple more times and will be in the hands of a private company, not out of necessity, but by sheer lobbying.

England will have officially tied the pound to the dollar and is the US's only foot hold in Europe.

Wha-da-ya-think?
