What was with Gannon's obsession with Daschle?
Looking at an archived page from 12/03 of JeffGannon.com:
http://web.archive.org/web/20031202062423/http://jeffgannon.com/

You will notice that almost every link had to do with Daschle. Gannon was on a mission to take out Daschle.

Now that we know the "truth" about Gannon, we should question all of his past actions. It appears that he was part of a scheme to get Daschle's seat, and we know how that ended up.

7. Hell hath no fury
like a Gannon scorned. Maybe Daschle turned down Gannon's advances.

5. Since Daschle doesn't have to worry about re-election, maybe he is one
who can get this whole sordid story to the forefront. The MSM might want to ignore him as "old news", but the man still has huge connections in DC and out.

8. Speaking of Media Whores! How literal does it get?
Gannon did what he was asked to do. Presumably, for a price. What I really want to know is, who paid him?

10. The White House chose to target Daschle for defeat for a couple of reasons
One reason was to give the republican base an individual target for the focus of their hate. Stoking the insatiable appetite of the republican base for hatred prevents them from focusing on what the republican party is doing to them and the country.

A second reason was to use the defeat of Daschle as a threat to other democrats in an attempt to prevent them from opposing Bush on any issue. The republican party now uses "Daschle" as a verb, as in "Watch what you say and do democratic Senator X or we will Daschle you." Or "Senator X needs to be Daschled."

Gannon's obsession with Daschle was merely the result of following instructions from the White House.
