Perhaps Gannon will be the weak link that blows the lid off BushCo
Or maybe his desire for notoriety will lead him to blow the whistle on a whole host of nasty stuff--Plame, etc.

I hope he doesn't "commit suicide."

2. Sorry.. No chance in hell. Busheviks could get away with felonies
and they routinely do.

I prophesy that if Tiberius Bunnypants* was filmed running down the street with a severed bloody head in his hands, that he would be neither impeached nor even prosecuted.

I used to say that as a joke, but as time has worn on it has become obvious that if that individual instance isn't true (and it might be, given the current stae of Amerika) it isn't far off.

3. Oh, yeah! He's officially out of the club now.
The WH will deny knowing anything about him, his stories are being vacuumed off the net as we speak.
He NEEDS to believe he's important. He was in the WH press corps, dammit!
Now his heroes have abondoned him.

6. it takes SEX to get the spotlight
The right wing knew that it would take a sex story to get the MSM to focus on clinton, travelgate, filegate, etc etc didn't stick.

Sex is the way to bring them down. If it leads to something concrete and the sex angle is entertaining enuf to sell papers and keep ahold of eyeballs it will break.

And yes, if i was gannon i'd be very afraid. His best bet might be to come out completely to make his sucide all the more suspicious and therefore off limits.

10. The furious scrubbing of all sites connected to him...
tells me there is much more to this and the scrubbing is a coordinated effort of more than "Jeff Gannon". I think "Gannon" is small potatoes but can lead to the REAL story and that's what the bush cabal/rove are afraid of.

12. Gannon thing is a little firecracker
To blow the lid off of Bushco, you're going to need a LOT bigger firecracker.

Like a couple of pounds of C4

Attention: CIA, FBI, NSA and various internet spies and lurkers

That's not to be construed as a threat. It was a figure of speech.

Don't knock on my door, I won't be home.

14. If this were an isolated incident, I'd be inclined to agree
Edited on Thu Feb-10-05 02:10 PM by rocknation
but in the wake the Novak-Plame leak, those trumped-up public service commercials, the scripted press conferences and the Armstrong Williams scandal (not to mention his claim that there are others), there is now legitimate reason to wonder if there isn't something bigger going on. Also, it puts us in a position to wonder if anyone in the mainstream media is involved. Wolf Blitzer said there's "no evidence" that Bush himself knew anything about it. But if I were him, I would more interested in defending my own profession--after all, Gannon's ruse makes all of them look untrustworthy.

This story doesn't need enough legs to trample President Mightymouse--a blow to the credibility to the mainstream media would be enough. Here's hoping congresswoman Louise Slaughter persues this right down to a formal investigation.
