Houston talk show radio host gets called "religious paranoid" on air
Chris Baker, on in Houston during drive time on KTRH www.ktrh.com was discussing cloning tonight. The guy grates my nerves, but every now and then I tune in. Tonight I did, because the weather is bad, and that station gives the most frequent traffic and weather during drive time.

Anyway, he has decided that cloning is "inherently evil" because it is the creation of artificial life, and he doesn't care what research could come from it to cure diseases. He also thinks that anything cloned "would have no soul". He kept spouting about how there is a faction of people out there who want to control the rest of us through cloning.

A caller asked him why he thought those things, and he said that cloning goes against God's law. The caller was very persistent, and I'm suprised he wasn't cut off (what usually happens to anyone who disagrees with him). Baker's final rationale was to suggest that the caller donate his body to science while he's still alive and let himself be subjected to various chemicals and such so that he could give feedback.

HOUSTON NEEDS AAR!!!!!!!

18. Just for fun....
Here's the direct link to the page on his show

http://www.ktrh.com/chrisbaker.html

I love this..."If you are a politically correct wuss living in denial and can’t stand to find out that you aren’t perfect and never will be, this show is NOT for you. But, if you embrace the joys of life and aren't afraid to laugh at yourself, "The Chris Baker Show" welcomes you to the real world 3-7 p.m. weekdays."

Oh, and he's available to speak at corporate events, schools, and private functions.

If this fuckernut showed up at my kid's school, I would blow a gasket!

2. We went thru all this garbage with heart transplants, etc.
Using someone else's heart was evil and there would be scifi struggles as to who really owned the "soul" according to the religious fanatic fringe then because it was not God's will. I guess a few must of gained life from the transplants because the right wing yappers shut up.

4. Another caller asked him about transplants
He said that transplants are OK, because they are not creating life. Follow the logic...if you can.

7. No, I can't follow the logic
but thanks. The organ is kept alive when the soul and the body is dead and there is no problem?

These yappers are beyond comprehension. They are a group of ultra wing faddies.

Anyway, I emailed this nut.

11. I did too
The whole time I was driving, I just couldn't believe what I was hearing. This is not a relgious station...it's a news station.

I'm ready for the Astros to be on during drive time again...I hate this idiot!

I couldn't wait to post this tonight, but then I had to cook dinner (the kids don't want to wait for me to post first), check homework, all that real life stuff.

3. He also thinks that anything cloned "would have no soul".
That could be bad as by difinition it would create a whole class of conservatives.

10. The only funny part was when the caller said
"I think you're a religious paranoid." He said (paraphrasing here)- I'm not paranoid. There are people out there who want to control the population through cloning. They find the angry gene, they can make us no longer able to get angry, then we're all complicit.

This guy spouts some scary shit.

24. Speaking of cloning and genes
I starting considering the question some time back as to what makes current day conservatives so delusional and unable to assimilate new information. I began considering the possibility, partly out of frustration but partly serious, as to if it could be indicative of a defective gene. i.e. people who are lagging behind in evolution.

And I'll be damned if a couple of months ago there was an article in Forbes magazine, an unusual media for such an argument, about how some geneticist are claiming that there may in fact be such a defective gene that more strongly embodies an authoritarian characteristic.

14. Clones... no soul?
You can bet your ass that human clones will be born and raised soon. What will these Rightwingreligiousassholes do with their weird dogma then?

If clones don't have souls, can they be killed with impunity?
If clones mate with "regular" humans, will the offspring have souls?
How about the abortion of clone fetuses?

I'm looking forward to seeing the fundies' heads explode.

6. This guy is a complete pain in the ear
He did a show close to the end of the year asking "Who do you not want to hear anymore from in the New Year?"...I was suprised to hear a caller make it through to say that she didn't want to hear anymore from * or Rummy. Of course, he told her that she was insane, that he's the prez, and we're going to hear a lot more from him, then cut her off. I called in, got to the screener, said I didn't want to hear any more from Coulter or Hannity. I was left on hold for 25 minutes, then the show ended. Meanwhile, people who didn't want to hear from Dr. Phil, Oprah, Scott Peterson, etc made it through just fine.

12. How about vein replacement using animal veins?
Is this as ungodly and bestial as you can get, or what? If God had wanted animal veins in us he would have supplied them. Will we wake from the anesthesia mooing, scratching our armpits, or what?
What about our soul? Will we wake up worshiping a bale of hay or a big banana? This is one of the funniest threads I've seen on DU.

13. I really don't get his no soul theory
If you believe that living beings have souls, aren't the cloned creatures living? So wouldn't they have one? According to him the answer is "No, because God didn't create it". Ummm...OK, sure dude!

a supreme being of some kind. He said that EVERY ONE OF THEM can only get so far with Evolution before they decide on Intelligent Design. The caller said "No they don't", he said "Yes they do" (are we in kindergarten?), the caller said "Not ALL of them"...Baker insisted on it. So, according to him, no one in the scientific community beleives that Evolution is valid...it's all about Intelligent Design.
