"Coming up next, the man who was made famous for his Scream"
:puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke:

John Gibson on Faux News. (interesting sidenote about Gibson: Once, when he was a guest on The Daily Show, Jon Stewart tricked Gibson into admitting that Fox News Channel was essentially the same as Al Jazerra).

Anyway, to my point:

Gibson is going to talk about Dean, DNC, after the commercial break. Three times now in the last half hour he has teased it by playing or refering to the "Dean scream".

Why? What does this solve?

What if a news commentator, every time he mentioned * in a story, led into it by saying, "Drunk Driver President Bush..."

1. I wouldn't expect them to do anything less
And I think Dean will use it to his advantage. If he was embarassed by his scream and the resulting media frenzy, he wouldn't be out in the spotlight.

5. But, made famous for it?
Bush was made famous by his last name. That's it. Before politics, he was just a drunken failure who had a rich, well-connected, and famous father.

And, its just a lie to say Dean was "made famous by his scream".

I mean, what about his grassroots organization? What about the way he energized his base, which was mostly younger people who are usually uninterested in politics or voting? What about his 2004 campaign, in which he was always a standout among the contenders?

Its just blatent right wing bullshit that is completely unnecessary.

9. Of course it is bullshit
But I still wouldn't expect any less from Faux. They're freaking over the idea that we're about to put someone in place that will take them on.

They aren't about to point out the good side of Dean. They're only going to come up with an attempt to marginalize him. It is what they do.

3. Might as well learn to laugh at himself...
He's ground zero for much worse when he takes over at DNC. No place for thin skins.

4. I was thinking the same thing today, the media think nothing of
ripping a Dem but I never hear them ripping a Repub. Case in point: they keep kicking Hillary, Teresa, Dean, Gore etc... I can't even think of a single repub. that they bash. And, the choices they could pick; Limbaugh, Frist, Santorum, Lott, Bush, Cheney, Rove, Wolfie, etc...

6. made famous by "the scream"? hmmm...
oh, yeah, that's right. Dr. Dean was on the cover of Time and Newsweek three months before the Iowa caucus in anticipation of his "scream". Yeah, OK....

7. I think they're a bit scared of him
Consider: Kerry lost W. Virginia because he was weak on guns and everywhere else (where he did lose) because he was "wishy-washy."

Dean had high rankings from the NRA and no one could accuse him of being wishy-washy. And he's a fund-raising MACHINE. So the conservatives don't want him to be taken seriously, and in that spirit they mock his scream, the only thing he ever did that hurt him. (He made a bunch of ill-thought, flippant remarks, but they ended up only bringing him popularity. The scream lost him the candidacy and maybe the presidency.)

By the way, how many threads do you need to respond to before you can begin your own?

12. my brother watches Faux News Channel
He has a sick fascination with it, and a higher tolerance for bullshit than I do.

Mainly, it makes him laugh, while it just makes me angry.

14. most definately
he just can tolerate listening to a lot of crap.

Also, its a good way to find out the RW talking points (since they all end up repeating what they hear on TV and radio anyway).

15. Cool about your bro and
that's a good point about getting RE talking points.

I just can't stand to watch it because it really is pro-repuke and is so unfair and unbalanced.

To go out of your way and make an add stating you are "fair and balanced" just proves how fucked up that station is. They know they're not but had to pull the stunt to say they are.
