What would be a good symbol to use?

9. I think he will (and we need to) focus on 2006. We need to win some
seats in the House and Senate. We need to take control of the Senate to put some checks and balances back into our government.

Turn the Congress Blue - maybe we should use the blue theme to show how much money is raised. Whatever the symbol is - turn it blue.

8. Moi aussi!!! Hey, how about a timed donation for DU!
That would make a point. You know, betwee 9-10pm EST the day after the election or day of...whatever. What a show of strength.

I think that our site should do better than KOS which did pretty damn well with their KOS list or whatever.

21. I will wait too.
I will believe there is real change when I see it. I consider myself a "Deaniac" too so it's nothing I have against Dean. I just don't trust the others.

Waiting:

23. But why not help Dean get the job done? If you're a Deaniac,
don't you want him to succeed?

And if the Democrats were such a worthless band of miscreants, why would Dean even want to chair the DNC?

25. Try reading my post again.
Did I call them "a worthless band of miscreants" ? I believe you did, not I. I did say I would wait a bit before jumping on the bandwagon. I call that prudent. I contributed to Dean and later to Kerry but so far the DNC has done nothing to merit any of my hard earned cash. That's all.

19. How about everyone donate $20.06
If everyone donated $20.06 it puts an emphasis on 2006 and does so in the way that Dean raises money (in smaller, individual contributions).

Edited on Sat Feb-05-05 05:00 PM by ultraist
Whatever you can manage, but be sure to end it in .06 to represent the '06 elections! ONWARD AND UPWARD!

Here we goooooooo......:kick:

30. I'm still weighing my options
I'm hesitant to directly contribute to the DNC nowadays given the level of corruption in government today. I'd rather donate to PDA or DFA. If Dean can make progress, sure, I'll donate, but I wanna see some progress first.

33. Not until I see actual results...
Edited on Sat Feb-05-05 07:36 PM by Darranar
Rhetoric is not a substitute for action. Change will not suddenly come upon us miraculously if we nominate this outspoken person or elect that outspoken person. We will not "take back" the Democratic Party merely by putting into power a lot of outspoken people.

Support the DNC if you wish to support the DNC, which I suppose I do after a fashion, but it simply does not automatically follow that injecting another moderate who's rhetoric is a little more harsh than the usual means that the Democratic Party will suddenly become actually progressive, and may begin actually standing for something....

If we wish to change things it takes more than "Republicans are evil," more even than "the DLC is evil." It takes a serious, sincere statement that the corporate centers of power that run both parties at the moment are vile, despicable, rotten to the core institutions that need to be fought and eventually eliminated, and actual action on that statement as well.

Dean is a step forward I suppose, but when you're in the back of a dark cavern you need more than a single step to see light. An intense sprint seems wiser.

Dean as Chair is a major step in a proper direction; however, I want to see how he is going to strengthen the Dem Party.

None of this Bu$h Administration-type planning!! Talk is cheap.
