... a little good news:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20030909/pl_afp/us_iraq_opinion_030909140436 <snip>The president's approval rating dropped nine points since May, slouching to 52 percent, according to a poll published Monday in Time magazine.
A poll by Zogby International released last weekend found his approval rating had slipped below 50 percent. Only 45 percent of respondents in that survey gave Bush positive marks, compared to 52 percent a month earlier.
Bush, who is running for re-election in 2004, has already held a series of campaign-style events all over the country, showcasing his policies and achievements, while nine Democratic hopefuls are stepping up attacks against him.
"The public's priority has shifted significantly to focus more on the economic side," says Scott Keeker, a specialist with the Pew Research Center, a political research organization in Washington. "Of course, the news continues to be pretty discouraging there."
US companies continued to shed jobs in August, even if most leading economic indicators have been pointing to recovery.

Something good is happening here - the public is associating job losses with Bush.
