A conservative with a sense of humor
Found this over at Wonkette. It's pretty funny, and even more so because it was written by an arch-conservative. This is the first time I've ever had a conservative make me laugh--usually, they are sanctimonious bastards!! This guy is offering to be an Armstrong Williams...to the highest bidder. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5952770833

...Since the Bush Administration hasn’t called (yet), I’m dropping a not-so-subtle hint that I, too, have bills to pay. I’m making my services as a talk host, writer and pundit available quickly and easily right here on eBay. And, because I’m a true conservative capitalist, my services are available to the highest bidder!

GOP, DNC, NRA, NOW, NAACP, heck, if the price is right, I’ll even sing the praises of multi-level marketing. (Wait—let me think about that one.)

This is a great deal for the winning bidder, too. In addition to hosting a three hour daily talk show on 630 WMAL—the number one talk station in Washington, DC—I also write a weekly syndicated column, I’ve written three books and I’ve appeared as a pundit on NBC’s The Today Show, CNN’s Crossfire, HBO’s Real Time, MSNBC’s Hardball and Fox News Channel’s Dayside with Linda Vester and numerous other national TV and radio programs.

Unlike Armstrong and Maggie, I will of course DISCLOSE the fact that I’m being paid for my opinion, but the passion and professional presentation are all for sale!

1. Yeah! Well I say F@ck that guy!

I have read that Himmler and Heydrich were funny too! This guy is making fun of you and you laugh. The issue of the Govt. paying (or threatening) the media to present their reality is, in fact, a hallmark of a fascist state. A "principled" conservative would understand that an adversarial press was one of the fundamental underpinnings of the Democracy that the founding fathers were attempting to create and sustain. This Rush Limbaugh wannabe's publicity stunt is only funny because of the idiotic picture of the wing nut dickhead at the microphone.

3. Who knows? Maybe a Democrat will win the bid
He's promised to shill, passionately and professionally, for the highest bidder, with full disclosure. Sounds to me like he is backhandedly chastising his White House heroes for doing what they did. And he's not a reporter, he's a conservative talk show host. An entertainer. There's a difference.

I don't see where he's making fun of anyone--certainly not ME, except maybe the government for buying favors, the idiot columnists for taking the money, and maybe all of them for getting caught. His little stunt not only earns him some publicity, it keeps the issue up front. That's not a bad thing. And I think it is humorous.
