Kline (R-MN) supports military recruiting on campus
Academic arrogance? What a scumbag. Kline and Normie Coleman should both move to a red state. We don't want either of them here! This is wrong for so many reasons.

Kline supports military recruiting on campus
Kevin Diaz, Star Tribune Washington Bureau Correspondent
January 27, 2005

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- As the Bush administration faces an indefinite timetable for keeping troops in Iraq, a Minnesota congressman is pressing House leaders to reject special funding requests from colleges and universities that bar military recruiters.

Challenging what he calls "academic arrogance," Rep. John Kline, R-Minn., has drafted a letter to the top Republicans and Democrats on the Appropriations Committee asking them to deny some federal funds to schools that refuse to allow on-campus military visits.

Kline's move was spurred by a November federal court decision holding that universities have a First Amendment right to bar military recruiters whose hiring policies discriminate against gays and lesbians.

Following the ruling by the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia, the Hamline University Student Congress asked officials at the St. Paul university last month to ban military recruiters because of the military's so-called "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

1. I disagree with Kline.
As to the right of universities to bar military recruiters because the "Don't Ask - Don't Tell" policies discriminate against gays and lesbians, why does the military get so uptight about homosexual Arabic translators --- but tolerate (seek out) sado-masochistic corrections officer types for the MP's and MI?

I for one think sado-masochism (like child molestation) is a serious perversion while homosexuality is clearly nature (and not nurture).

5. But * said there would be no draft.
Sad. Everything they say appeals to the middle class. But everything they do rather works against the middle class...
