Sound like his ten years of service doesn't account for anything.

If convicted by a court-martial, Benderman faces up to seven years in a military prison, reduction in rank and a dishonorable discharge, Whetstone said. Military courts can also opt for no punishment, even for defendants found guilty.

"We're still going to treat him with honor and respect. He's a soldier, he's wearing the uniform and he's a veteran," Whetstone said. "But when regulations are broken and orders are disobeyed, we've got to do what we've got to do."

1. Don't blame him

I don't blame him for wanting to leave. One of my neighbors sons came back from iraq a while ago and said he never wanted to go back either. He told several of us horror stories about marines gunning down children playing in the street and mass graves all around iraq that the US army made themselfs.

He joined up in hopes to defend his country, but now he is just defending the US companies from lower oil profits.

I find it crazy that because he does not want to go back to Iraq, is going to loose everything he worked so hard to build up. He gave ten years of his life. Serve a tour duty, and there is a possibility the government can strip him of all of that. I find that crazy.
