1. So even the kids will be "left behind" to deal with Armageddon?
Man, that God... what an asshole!

3. Didja read the review? Ick
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 05:13 AM by Solly Mack
"Someday, Jesus will return to take his followers to heaven.... We will disappear right in front of disbelieving people. Won't that be a great day for us and a horrifying one for them?" That was old Pastor Billings droning on again about the Rapture, and Judd was bored out of his skull. A sarcastic 16-year-old, way too cool for all this Jesus stuff, Judd had even lied about receiving Christ as his Lord and personal Savior. But poor hotheaded Judd is about to be very, very sorry."

6. I know. Very alarming
I've seen them in the bookstore. I hid all I could behind liberal publications.

2. It was under our Christmas tree
My sister's mother-in-law gave my niece and nephew the O'Reilly book for Christmas. Her husband is a big Republican, but even he agreed with my sister that they wanted Bill Reilly no where near their kids.

9. My mom kept a bunch of the original Hardy Boys novels
from when one of my older brothers was hospitalized back in the very late '50's or early '60's. They were in pretty decent shape. I wonder if they'd be worth anything now?

11. O'Liely is mentally unstable
why would any parent trust what he says about kids and family unless they are sharing his delusional world?

12. One more way to cement the delusion
It's indoctrination geared toward kids to shape their views for when they turn 18, and can vote.

13. I bought a bunch of the
left behind series from a yardsale in my neighborhood this summer. So that I could make sure they didn't fall into the hands of any unsuspecting children on my block. They're landfill now. :)

16. And Bill O'Reilly calls liberals evil!!!
I always to go to Amazon.com and rate his books, Hannity's book and Coulter's books when I have an extra moment. I have also been known to put little moustaches on Bush's Time Person of the Year cover (TEEHEE!!)

23. long list of cohorts
Henry Hyde
Strom Thurman
that failed IL senatorial candidate
George H W Bush
The Arnold

And my perpetual favorite, Newt Gingrich, who told his wife, while she was on her hospital bed sick from cancer, that he was trading her in for a newer model.

Got to love those moral values.

17. My mom gave O'Reilly's book to my 15-year-old son for Christmas
Edited on Wed Jan-05-05 09:15 AM by neebob
He flipped through it and blew it off. I've read the first 75 pages, nearly half the book. There's nothing objectionable in it except B.O. himself, spewing trite advice and going on about what a great guy he is. He should have called it Don't Be a Pinhead ... Because I Said So! (And People Who Don't Like Me Are Pinheads). If I didn't know anything about him, I might go, "Uh, okay."

As for Left Behind, I recently watched most of a movie of the same name with Kirk Cameron on TBN, and all I can say is, "Uh ...." At least it helped me realize the religion I was raised on is not the craziest one out there.

19. Two reviews stand out
One is from "Concerned Parent," a Christian, who says these books teach salvation through fear. Which is true.

The other is from "Mark Moore," a non-Christian, who calls bullshit on the whole thing.

They're in the reviews of the first Left Behind book.
