Lots of rich Texans buy rural retreats--but quite a few of them actually get into it. The Bush family had quite a few years to put down Texas roots but they never really tried. A Houston hotel suite was Bush Sr's Texas address when he was President; afterwards, he & Ma Bush had a house built on a tiny lot they owned in Houston's 3rd or 4th most prestigious neighborhood. Tanglewilde is not farming land--it's just outside the 610 Loop.
