Bush is cutting money from charities b/c of deficits
Oh the consequences of war, and budget deficits!!! The Bush administration has "http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/22/politics/22aid.html?oref=login">told representatives of several charities that it was unable to honor some earlier promises and would have money to pay for food only in emergency crises like that in Darfur, in western Sudan."

Globally, the number of hungry is rising, but the administration is ready cut up to $100 million, from some charities. "As a result, Save the Children, Catholic Relief Services and other charities have suspended or eliminated programs that were intended to help the poor feed themselves through improvements in farming, education and health."

"We have between five and seven million people who have been affected by these cuts," said Lisa Kuennen, a food aid expert at Catholic Relief Services. "We had approval for all of these programs, often a year in advance. We hired staff, signed agreements with governments and with local partners, and now we have had to delay everything."

I wonder of this story will squeak through the conservative outrage over saying "Marry Christmas" or "happy holidays." Is this not the real outrage? Watch it be ignored.

1. No, of course there won't be real outrage.
But here is yet another example in which the Bushists' fundamental cold-bloodedness and inability to see past the ends of their noses is causing harm to the world.

6. Or in this case, neither.
That's the "compassionate conservative" way.

8. Christmas Accounting
Seven million hungrier

Billions flowing to Iraq sowing the seeds of terror in 2020, when the traumatised kids grow up.

Expensive gas is here to stay.

Gold rising same proportion as dollar nosediving.

And the fat war profiteers have never been happier!

*sigh*
