Gitmo soldier beats the hell out of his parents
A U.S. Marine pleaded not guilty to assault charges Monday after prosecutors said he beat his parents over the weekend in Colchester.

Charles W. Blount, 31, was released on conditions, including that he not make contact with his family and that he undergo a psychiatric evaluation. He is charged with one count of aggravated assault and one charge of simple assault. Court papers indicate Blount has no prior criminal record in Vermont.

When Colchester police arrived at the Blount home after a 911 call just before midnight Friday, they saw through a window that Blount was assaulting his bloodied mother, according to court papers. Police kicked in the door and subdued Blount after a brief struggle.

The inside of the house was strewn with broken furniture and blood was spattered on the walls of the kitchen, hallway and living room, police said, according to court papers. Blount's father, Edmon Blount, was found bloodied and nearly unconscious on a couch, the court papers indicated.

The court papers gave no indication of a motive for the alleged assault. The mother, Margaret Blount, told police that she, her husband and son visited and drank martinis before Margaret Blount went to bed. She was awakened by the sound of her husband and son arguing. Soon, Margaret Blount told police, Charles Blount was hitting her husband, and then struck her, according to the court papers.

1. :(
Such a sad story -- heaven only knows what was going on here.

Still -- an Aside to DUers who follow such things -- mind you -- this MILITARY vet **MARINE**!! was brought under control without a tazer or even more lethal force. Unlike the little kiddies and little old ladies we have read about being subjected to tazers. etc. Bravo Vermont police, for bring this difficult situation under control, without making more horrible headlines than necessary. I wonder if they are available for seminars for elsewhere in the nation.

I mean, I'm sure this was just another innocent hazing incident, nothing to get upset about or anything. Just another wacky day at Alpha Sigma Limbaugh.

on edit: oh, wait, these were AMERICANS being beaten. Well, that does create a slight PR problem, then ...

3. Don't know what happened but I"m hearing scores of reports
on the negative mental condition of returning military...very sad.

People don't have switches: we can't just teach people to KILL, send them to a horrid ill planned war zone, then expect them to just "switch it off" when they return...They NEED a Mandatory deprogramming unit for these returning men and women... Sad indeed

4. This was common in Nam Vets
I had a very good friend who had the police called on him because he had his mother on the kitchen floor trying to strangle her. He saw her as a "gook" and had a flashback.

This is what Bush is doing to our citizens by fighting a war where the natives could care less about us and distrust us 100%. Since we attacked their country without provocation, as we attacked Nam, why should they trust us? They never bought the liberation garbage.

It left our kids in a moral bind. Hence, the increased suicides and the attacks on the familiar. Their horror is too much to comprehend.

Thanks W.
