8. It's got to be a combination of some very fortuitous circumstances
Edited on Fri Sep-05-03 04:51 PM by AP
- Davis's speach calling this a Republican power grab to achieve something they could never achieve democratically in a general election must really have struck a chord with people who are already thinking about Florida 2000, and the Texas redistricting, and, perhaps BBV.

- Bustamante has turned out to be a really appealing candidate who has a terrific speaking voice, and a great demeanor -- kind of like Orson Wells in Citizen Kane -- big, imposing, kind of funny, yet warm at moments.

- I think Arnold has made a bunch of blunders. He's running on the notion that the situation is dire, but he who in the hell is going to vote for a 2d rate actor/former body builder if the situation is dire? Arnold would have a better chance if he we arguing things were great, so why don't we go on a lark and take a chance on me? How bad can I screw things up?

Furthermore, the spectacle of Arnold is drawing attention away from Republicans who could actually make that argument that things are bad, so lets elect a responsible technocrat who dresses seriously and owns a calculator.

10. Also maybe the Diane Feinstein ads?
My mom (in California) says that they are on constantly.

And your last thought is hilarious but probably on the mark!
