News coverage decided by the brain dead?
Last night our local news had an item about there being more reporters assigned in LA for the Peterson trial that in Iraq covering the war. A network spokeswoman explained that they had done "research" and this is what people are most interested in. It apparently has never occurred to them that half the voting population of this country are interested in seeing their votes counted. It just gets worse.

4. Are they prepared to release this 'research' to the public? If not, then
it's invalid as far as any thinking person is concerned.

The non-thinkers will drone on and on about privacy and other two-faced bullploppie.

5. A friend of mine is married to
a guy who works in the newsroom of the local CBS affiliate in LA. Saw him last week and he became quite hostile when I suggested that we do not have a free press in this country and that even Dan Rather has said as much. He didn't believe it, so I sent him a link to the comments Rather made in Europe. Then he blamed Rather for not making the comments in the US where they would receive "coverage." (The guy clearly is delusional.)

He also thinks Peterson is covered because "that's what people want to see." I said "No, that's what they shove down the public's collective throat to keep them stupid and uninformed." Which is what even this news staffer is. He had never heard the 100,000 Iraqi casualty figure and was convinced the chimp's debate "bulge" was a bullet-proof vest - something, I pointed out, the WH had denied. He hadn't heard that either.

6. It was a bullet-proof vest - they later admitted it
but I totally agree with the rest of your post.

7. Because they "admitted it" doesn't make it true.
I think he was wired.

8. For most intents and purposes: "by" and "for".

Of course, these are induced states to some degree.

It is something of a circle... or a death spiral.
