What if this happened?
What if tomorrow the President of the United issued the following Proclamation:

"All coalition troops shall be withdrawn from Iraq immediately. It is time for the Iraqi people to take control of their country and institute the government of their choice."

1. Honestly?
If Bush were to do that the corporate media would call it statesmanlike leadership. If a Democratic president did that the corporate media would call it "cutting and running".

But that's why it's even more imperative for Bush to get us out of Iraq NOW: As a Republican, Bush has the political cover to do so, while a Democratic president probably would not be able to do so without destroying all of his political capital.
