So now that the Republicans own all three branches
of the Government, who are they going to blame? They've had four years, now have at least two more, and Clinton is just a memory, so they really can't blame him and get away with it. Maybe it's Bin Ladens fault. Everyone hates him. No wait, it has to be Tom Daschle's fault, he's not there to defend himself. Of course, it could be Nancy Pelosi's fault, she's just a California liberal after all. The point I'm trying to make is that hopefully the people who voted these frauds in will wake up and realize that the repubs are causing this mess and the Democrats, while not perfect, can start to get us out of it. Look in the mirror repubs, its ALL on you now.

2. Their entire game plan is too blame the demos and liberals in general for
everything that happens which casts poor light on themselves. They will continue this course of never taking responsibility because no one holds them responsible. There are apparantly enough Americans happy to oblige them.

4. That's why, every chance we get ...
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 07:43 AM by Flammable Materials
... we need to repeat the following three phrases to every Bush-supporter we meet:

YOUR PRESIDENT
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
YOUR PROBLEM

or alternately

NOT MY PRESIDENT
NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY
NOT MY PROBLEM

"When your Republicans finally destroy this once-great nation, don't come crying to us."

3. Think about this, over 500 egos vs 2 WH egos.
Every one of those 500 sure they would make a better president. It should be interesting.

5. This is why Democrats need a new approach for the new regime.
We need to get our hands well away from the levers of power, so that when the ship runs aground (and it will) it will be clear that we had nothing to do with it. This means to engage the Republicans neither as partner nor as opponent. Get the hell out of their way and let them do what they want, making it clear all the while that there is no practical means of stopping them (because there isn't).

We are a true opposition party now. We need to step back and act like outsiders, criticizing and mocking every misstep and misstatement and failure of the administration. We can forget about being responsible, about acting as if we could be trusted with power. We are locked out of the electoral process - we're not going to get any power anyway. So acting responsibly is merely a way of volunteering to be held responsible when the Republicans screw everything up.

6. Everytime they try to blame a Dem, we should be back at them
with a "Well, what the heck did you expect when you____________?" or a "What were you thinking when you voted for/wrote/supported that legislation?"

Back at 'em every time. Rub their noses in it and constantly point to the pile of doodoo they leave in their wake. Remind our fellow citizens that it is the GOP's game--they make the rules and keep the score and manage the conference. Gotta complaint? Here's how you reach _________________ (fill in the name of the the appropriate corrupt, corporate stooge Rep politician here). It's not my problem, don't bring it to me.

7. You forget....
They inherited a recession, were attacked on 9/11, and had to deal with all those business scandals....

8. They'll blame Clinton's penis
like they have for the last four years. The party of "personal responsibility" is anything but--they've become very good at passing the buck.

9. The biggest problem with control of the 3 branches...
is the inevitable increased political/monetary corruption that always follows a one-party goevernment.

10. I Already Know What They'll Say
If it's economy: "Well, the president really doesn't have that much effect on the economy." No one will ask the follow up: "Then why did he mess with the tax rates in the interest of stimulating the economy, if he can't really affect it?"

If it's war: "Well, the president has to defend the country and sometimes mistakes get made." No one will ask: "How many mistakes is a president allowed? If more than one, why are we still making a big deal over Clinton's aspirin factory?"

If it's civil rights: "Well, the president believes in minimizing gov't and we will all have to live with the short term consequences." No one will ask: "Isn't it quite hard hearted to damn the consequences when those consequences are happening to REAL PEOPLE because he doesn't BELIEVE gov't should help?"

But most of all, they will deflect blame and nobody will ask: "Who the heck is in charge around here?"
The Professor
